Guest guest
I've been a member for just a short while and have been reading and learning. My Dx is not set yet. My first neuro was useless and I'm told by my new neuro that she " blew me off as a nut case " . My new guy says something is obviously wrong, we just need to figure out what it is. below is my list of Sx that I just took to this new neuro and the HUGE list of drugs they have me on. I HATE taking meds! Please someone HELP. There has to be something better. Brain zaps Tremors Memory problems Cognitive problems (confusion, word finding problems) Severe fatigue Can’t handle heat (weak, nausea) Pain in hips, back, legs, arms Muscle spasms (back, legs and arms) Leg cramps (feet pull up) “ghosts†in vision Stabbing pain behind right eye Light bursts in eyes, floaters Headaches Dizzy Poor balance Itching Constipation/diarrhea Chest pressure (hard to breath) Double vision (well 1 ½ vision when tired) Rt eye feels over taxed Tripping/falling Can’t drive- can’t process fast enough, makes me dizzy Tingling in feet (heels) and leg and sometimes arms and hands Bad hip pain in Rt hip, makes it hard to walk Depression Feel like I’m living in Mud Metformin 500mg bid I'm a borderline diabetic Hydrocodone/APAP 5mg/500mg PRN (I never take these but I have them) Zanaflex 4mg at bedtime (muscle relaxer) Levothyroxine .50Mg qd in am (for hypothyroidism) Prochlorperazine 5mg prn for nausea Oxycodone/APAP 7.5mg/500mg prn (If I HAVE to take a pain med, I take this one) Lunseta 2mg prn (take about twice a month) Gabapentin 100mg (3 at bedtime) (for muscle twitches and spasms) Lexapro 20mg qd before bed (this I can't stop taking) Iron 50mg qd before bed (I'm anemic) Potassium 99mg qd Monday, Wed, Friday (I have a heart condition so I need this) Tramadol 50mg prn (I HATE these and never take them either) Methazolamide 25mg (week 7- 1am and 1pm) ASA 325mg qd am (this seems like a lot to me but I've had a stroke in the past) MSM with Glucoamine 500mg/500mg bid (I think this helps my pain more than most of the rest) Caltrate (Calcium 600mg Vit D 400IU) bid (getting old, told this is good for my bones) Dina
Guest guest
Dina: How long have you been on the gabapentin (Neurontin)? Check out this website: > http://shingles.emedtv.com/gabapentin/gabapentin-side-effects.html Some of your symptoms look very similar to the list of side effects one can get from gabapentin. Just a thought. There are more natural muscle relaxants (I take magnesium bis-glycinate for cramping). And when I was on SSRI's (which Lexapro partially is), I experienced " Brain Zaps " from the anti-depressants I was taking (Prozac, then Paxil). I also had a VERY hard time going off these meds (I know " they " say the drugs aren't addictive, but I would beg to differ!!). I'm not saying go off the Lexapro; I'm just saying maybe the brain zaps are from the Lexapro. Don't stop anything, obviously, without checking with your doctor. But maybe some of your meds are contributing to some of your symptoms. Good luck, Beverly > > > Brain zaps > > > > Tremors > > > > Memory problems > > > > Cognitive problems (confusion, word finding problems) > > > > Severe fatigue > > > > Can’t handle heat (weak, nausea) > > > > Pain in hips, back, legs, arms > > > > Muscle spasms (back, legs and arms) > > > > Leg cramps (feet pull up) > > > > “ghosts†in vision > > > > Stabbing pain behind right eye > > > > Light bursts in eyes, floaters > > > > Headaches > > > > Dizzy > > > > Poor balance > > > > Itching > > > > Constipation/diarrhea > > > > Chest pressure (hard to breath) > > > > Double vision (well 1 ½ vision when tired) Rt eye feels over taxed > > > > Tripping/falling > > > > Can’t drive- can’t process fast enough, makes me dizzy > > > > Tingling in feet (heels) and leg and sometimes arms and > hands > > > > Bad hip pain in Rt hip, makes it hard to walk > > > > Depression > > > > Feel like I’m living in Mud > > > > > > > > > > > > Metformin 500mg bid I'm a borderline diabetic > > > > > Hydrocodone/APAP 5mg/500mg > PRN (I never take these but I have them) > > > > > Zanaflex 4mg at bedtime (muscle relaxer) > > > > > Levothyroxine .50Mg qd in am (for hypothyroidism) > > > > > Prochlorperazine 5mg prn for nausea > > > > Oxycodone/APAP 7.5mg/500mg prn (If I HAVE to take a pain med, I take this one) > > > > > Lunseta 2mg prn (take about twice a month) > > > > > Gabapentin 100mg (3 at bedtime) (for muscle twitches and spasms) > > > > > Lexapro 20mg qd before bed (this I can't stop taking) > > > > > Iron 50mg qd before bed (I'm anemic) > > > > > Potassium 99mg qd Monday, Wed, Friday (I have a heart condition so I need this) > > > > > Tramadol 50mg prn (I HATE these and never take them either) > > > > > Methazolamide 25mg (week 7- > 1am and 1pm) > > > > ASA 325mg qd am (this seems like a lot to me but I've had a stroke in the past) > > > > > MSM with Glucoamine 500mg/500mg bid (I think this helps my pain more than most of the rest) > > > > > Caltrate (Calcium 600mg Vit D 400IU) bid (getting old, told this is good for my bones) > > > > > > > > > > > > Dina > > > >
Guest guest
WOW ok, I'm not taking that one anymore. I've only taken it for about a month and just last week started 3 pills so I think I'm safe to stop. seems like it might be doing more harm than good. I know what you mean about antidepressant brain zaps. I had those before too with Effexor. They were terrible. these aren't quite the same, they leave my head and go either into my eyes or jaw or sometimes down my body. They make me jump and " yipe " as my husband calls it. Thank you for your help! I wish there was a great homeopath near me. When I lived in Kalamazoo I saw one but that was almost 10 years ago. I miss her. Guest guest
Hi Dina, many o your symptoms sound like my husband`s. He, after he was told he has MS, had a Western Blot Test done for Neuro Borreliosis, i.e. Lyme Disease in the CNS which came back positive. In the end to me he has found his personal answer what exactly is the cause of his " MS " , he has lesions in the brain, a lot of them, but he was blessed enough to find out the underlying cause for them. Since he is been treated with abx, his lesions started to fade/disappear. Still has a long road ahead of him but it was worth while to pay the money on the specialized lab test (Igenex). Just a consideration for you, hope it helps a bit. Bianca
Guest guest
Hi Dina, Welcome to the group! There are too many conditions that mimic MS (such as Lyme disease) to give you a definitive answer. However, if turns out you do have MS, here is a website you may find helpful in treating it: http://tinyurl.com/advice-to-msers With best wishes, Dudley Delany http://profiles.yahoo.com/dudley_delany
