Guest guest
He can taste this stuff because it is often unpleasant. At three and a half, it might be better to show him what you are doing and make a game of taking the icky stuff. Try getting him to hold a tablespoon filled with orange juice over the glass whiles you empty the capsule into it. Then get him to swallow the spoonful and say quick, quick, quick, drink juice, or eat pudding, and make the icky taste go away. Even if he doesn't understand the works he might go along with the game. I know many adults who play the same game with salt Tequila and lemon, and they don't have disabilities. Then praise him to bits for being so brave and have him help you take your turn. This might seem awkward, but at least you should be able to get some of the supplements into him without turning him against his favorite foods. Kathy BuerosseGas prices getting you down? Guest guest
Have you tried putting it in his drink after putting it through the blender? You could also try melting some GFCF chocolate (or his favorite treat) and mixing them in there. Another option is taking a behavioral approach and giving reinforcers after he takes the supplements in his food/drink. Minerva
Guest guest
We put our stuff in juice (orange) and I have a friend that puts hers in baby food (the sweet stuff, like bananas, guava). Good luck! It's a constant struggle, I know!
Guest guest
I like the thought of teaching my son to swallow pills. He is 21 now and It might be too late. Still if the pharmacist has something that will help, I will try it. Watching him bite into cod liver oil capsules does not help the rest of us at breakfast time, and it sure would speed things up in the mornings. I will let you all know if it works. Guest guest
I don't know if your son likes Grape juice, but as a kid I had the same problem and I could taste the "ickiness" in everything except for grape juice.
