Guest guest
My neuropathy strted when I was 14. It began as discoloration in the lower extremities, then eventually loss of hair, leather like skin and total discoloration. Blood glucose levels at that time was acceptalbe up to 146mg/dl. Testing was mainly based on urine testing, where as blood machine werent available, only lab work was done. The key to neuropathy that I found was how to deal with the pain. I was put on psychiatric drugs just to sleep and forget the pain, but these meds made me drowsy. Now after having 2 heart attacks fro hardening of the arteries, having 9 stents and a host of other complications from diabetes, my neuropathy doesnt seem to bother me as much anymore. I think even people in good control will develop some type of complication, it goes with the territory...at least with me! Vicky needs to keep her bgs low and work with what you are now! Even if it started, she can control neuropathy by controlling her bgs. Hang in there girl..and by all means please consult professionals before doing ANYTHING related to this chronic disease. Good luck
Guest guest
Yep, once my levels dropped, both the pain and most of the neuropathy went away. Since my levels have started up again, the neuropathy is creeping back, but the pain has not restarted yet. - - - - - Lokrin (TechAss) Technical Assailant http://lokrin.net - - - - Re: New to this group!- In a message dated 10/15/2003 3:02:56 PM Eastern Daylight Time, james_19742000@... writes: > What I am asking is, is there anyone out there who is having or had > a similar experience and if so did your situation improve?? Hi , Welcome to the group. I have not had neuropathy, but some members have posted about having less pain once their bg's were normal or at least close to normal.
