Guest guest
Granted, transporting grannies can be dangerous (got stabbed in the leg once by a LOL who was a 'bit confused' - good lesson for me-) wearing a TacEMS patch seems a bit 'ate up with it'. A version of 'merit badge syndrome' best left on a wall plaque in the privacy of your den or office. Wear of a Tactical EMS patch strikes me as inappropriate on anything but Tactical uniforms, when operating as a tactical medic. Guest guest
that is the patch i am speaking of... is it " appropriate " ? do you have to be police affiliated to obtain this patch or can anyone wear it? kelly Re: tactical medic patch I know that when the ATF and others were in Waco, they gave some of the black paramedic patches to R/M medics and they were wearing them on their coats long after Mt. Carmel. I have one on my coat. If you are talking about the ones that look like the regular patch, except these are black or dark gray. Some uniform places sell the tacical patch, and some look like the regular patch and some don't. Wayne > quick question... i saw someone on a transfer truck wearing a tactical paramedic patch. is that " appropriate " ? i mean is that not a patch that would be worn in a police setting instead of an ambulance transportation setting? just curious and looking for opinions or education. > > thanks, > kelly > / > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
The original intent was thought up by those of us that were originally trained under the CONTOM's program in the 90's and were supporting the Federal agencies during the Waco incident. There is CONTOMs' patch but during the Waco incident we devised a subdued patch based upon the state paramedic patch. Unfortunately, the supplier saw $$$ and made up additional patches and sold them to anyone who was willing to fork over the money. Contrary to a previous post, we DID NOT pass these out to R/M employees that were assisting at Waco. It is only appropriate (IMHO only) that these patches only be worn upon successful completion of a tactical medic program (such as Texas A & M or CONTOMs') and when you are assigned as a member of your local law enforcements tactical team and then only when on an active operation. " If your tac trained, you don't have to wear the patch to prove it " . Also, the state DOES NOT recognize any patch other than the approved state patches. The National Registry has a subdued patch (not tactical) available but only for those currently serving in the armed forces. Guest guest
Agree with Greg, those who were at Waco and actually did tactical medical support (versus transport from the rear treatment tents...) have the patch that was originally devised by the group. It is probably in a drawer somewhere or on BDU's for actual swat callouts. Be skeptical of anyone " advertising " their tactical capabilities on a duty ambulance shirt, chances are they aren't working with a team. Ask them what SWAT team they support... Just my 2 cents.
