If it's the Basis line that I'm thinking of, all the lotions &

moisturizers have AHA's in them -- it seemed like an appealing & simple

line of products, but AHA's cause me no end of grief.

I can't do urea, mineral oil, petrolatum or other oils except jojoba at all.

Those baby cream ointments would give me a bumper crops of zits. I don't know

where you can buy powdered zinc oxide. I wish I knew because that combo you

mention sounds good to me. Thanks, Matija

think so. Also, it felt quite oily on my skin and never seemed to soak in.

Does anyone know of an alternative, a cheaper alternative? I mean, it's JUST

tissue paper, isn't it?

You and me both. It's one of the ways to make my skin burn without

lighting a match! Matija

If you've had a bad reaction to the Basis Face the Day Lotion, I don't know

if I'd go that route anyway -- there are common ingredients in the diaper

creams. I bet you could mix straight zinc oxide with jojoba oil, but best

test it first -- although in my case, it's impossible for me to test

products, because I can put things like alpha hydroxy on my chest, arms,

hands, etc., but NEVER on my face. So where can you test?

AHA's aren't on the Basis Face the Day ingredient list, so I certainly hope

there are none in it! AHAs positively destroy my face -- I thought that's

how this trouble started in the first place, because I had my first flare

after using a new face cream with AHA that was supposed to get rid of fine

lines. I think they should put warnings on those products. I wonder whether

I might have stayed in remission for a while longer if not for AHAs!

My bottle of Basis Face the Day just says, " Active Ingredients: Octyl

Methoxycinnamate, Zinc Oxide " -- I don't have the box any more that probably

listed the full ingredients. Anyone else have it?

Hi Skylar and all,

I don't believe Face The Day Lotion has any Alhpa Hydroxies in it. I

can't use AHA either. After about two days, my skin is raw. But, I just

love Face The Day Lotion. It soaks in so beautifully, that sometimes I use

just tons of it. And my skin loves it. I don't know of any other way to get

the zinc without heavy oils.

I looked at the box of the Face the Day lotion yesterday, and if memory

serves correctly, the AHA's were listed in the " other ingredients " so I

didn't buy it.

There are a couple of different Basis products -- it may be the

" one-stop face cream " that I'm thinking of. Here's the ingredients list

for Face the Day (this is from drugstore.com) & I don't see any acids in

it:

Ingredients:

Active Ingredients: Per container: Octyl Methoxycinamate, Zinc Oxide

Inactive Ingredients: Triple Purified Water, Cyclomethicone, Isopropyl

Palmitate, PEG-100 Stearate, Polyacrylamide, C13-14 Isoparaffin,

Laureth-7, Butylene Glycol, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-40 Stearate, Silica,

Tocopheryl Acetate, Cholecalciferol, Retinyl Palmitate, Aloe Vera Gel,

Panthenol, Oat Beta Glucan, Green Tea Extract, Allantoin, Dimethicone,

Myristyl Myristate, Sorbitan Stearate, Methylparaben, Phenoxyethanol,

Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, Butylparaben, EDTA, Fragrance

Thank you again Skylar! I was afraid I was going to have to stop using Basis

Face the Day, and I was really liking it!

Boy, do I feel for you -- you've really got a laundry list of

ingredients that you need to watch out for.

By the way, you mentioned overheating in another post -- I saw this in a

catalogue & then I saw it the store today -- it's a portable mister --

I've used a spray bottle for a long time, especially at summer concerts,

etc. & I love those Arizona misters they sell now -- park me next to one

& I'm set. Well, this had the fine mister nozzle, a water bottle & some

kind of hand pump to pressurize the mister -- I think I'll have to get

me one.

It had one of those " As Seen on TV " stickers on it -- maybe Nicki

already has one & can tell us about it??? ;-)
