Guest guest
If it's the Basis line that I'm thinking of, all the lotions & moisturizers have AHA's in them -- it seemed like an appealing & simple line of products, but AHA's cause me no end of grief. I can't do urea, mineral oil, petrolatum or other oils except jojoba at all. Those baby cream ointments would give me a bumper crops of zits. I don't know where you can buy powdered zinc oxide. I wish I knew because that combo you mention sounds good to me. Guest guest
You and me both. It's one of the ways to make my skin burn without lighting a match! If you've had a bad reaction to the Basis Face the Day Lotion, I don't know if I'd go that route anyway -- there are common ingredients in the diaper creams. I bet you could mix straight zinc oxide with jojoba oil, but best test it first -- although in my case, it's impossible for me to test products, because I can put things like alpha hydroxy on my chest, arms, hands, etc., but NEVER on my face. So where can you test? ------------------------------------------------------------------------

AHA's aren't on the Basis Face the Day ingredient list, so I certainly hope there are none in it! AHAs positively destroy my face -- I thought that's how this trouble started in the first place, because I had my first flare after using a new face cream with AHA that was supposed to get rid of fine lines. I think they should put warnings on those products. I wonder whether I might have stayed in remission for a while longer if not for AHAs! My bottle of Basis Face the Day just says, " Active Ingredients: Octyl Methoxycinnamate, Zinc Oxide " -- I don't have the box any more that probably listed the full ingredients. Anyone else have it? Guest guest
Hi Skylar and all, I don't believe Face The Day Lotion has any Alhpa Hydroxies in it. I can't use AHA either. After about two days, my skin is raw. But, I just love Face The Day Lotion. It soaks in so beautifully, that sometimes I use just tons of it. And my skin loves it. I don't know of any other way to get the zinc without heavy oils. Guest guest
I looked at the box of the Face the Day lotion yesterday, and if memory serves correctly, the AHA's were listed in the " other ingredients " so I didn't buy it. Guest guest
Thank you again Skylar! I was afraid I was going to have to stop using Basis Face the Day, and I was really liking it! Guest guest
Boy, do I feel for you -- you've really got a laundry list of ingredients that you need to watch out for. By the way, you mentioned overheating in another post -- I saw this in a catalogue & then I saw it the store today -- it's a portable mister -- I've used a spray bottle for a long time, especially at summer concerts, etc. & I love those Arizona misters they sell now -- park me next to one & I'm set. Well, this had the fine mister nozzle, a water bottle & some kind of hand pump to pressurize the mister -- I think I'll have to get me one. It had one of those " As Seen on TV " stickers on it -- maybe Nicki already has one & can tell us about it??? ;-) Skylar RuizdelVizo wrote: > > Skylar, Thanks for posting the ingredients.
