Guest guest
> I don't know about gray hair either, as I started to get some in my 30's, My gray hair has been delightfully well hidden for years. I dyed my hair red for an awards banquet about 5-6 years ago and I liked it so much, I've kept the color ever since. I have on occassion noticed one or two gray hairs popping up now and then. Fortunately, most of the time I am relieved to discover that it's just dog hair from Sherlock that got stuck to my head during the night. Then there have been a few times I have removed the " dog hair " to find it actually attached to my scalp. : ( > but young skin yes. My family is known for their very young looks well up > into the 70's. Peachy cream skin on the face, Kerry and I are both quite young looking. It's always a joke to see which of us gets carded when we go out. It's usually him, depending on how he is dressed and whether or not he's had a haircut renently. For me, it's not as often, but most typically when I am casually dressed with my hair down. I was the one carded most recently though. We went out for my dad's birthday dinner on 8/31 and I got carded. I'll be 31 laster this month and Kerry is 33. > but I think the skin on our > hands does take a beating and they do seem to age faster. This is where Kerry and I really differ. The skin on his hands is much more wrinkled than mine. He also has more stretch marks than I do. -Barb
Guest guest
Pam, Acrogeria (premature aging of the extremities, mainly hands and feet) is a minor diagnostic criteria for VEDS. I don't believe I have this too much, but who knows, I don't compare my hands/feet with others. Sue Ginley
Guest guest
Hi Helen, My daughter's hands are very old and wrinkled looking, and she's 25 and beautiful. But she's ALWAYS been teased about her hands, being called Elephant hands, and alligator paws, etc. She's so self conscience about it, that when we went to the conference this year, she said, " I suppose it would be OK to shake hands here, huh Mom? " I thought she was hesitating because of being afraid of passing germs or something, as we had JUST arrived, and they were eating, and we had to ask for some plates so that we could eat. But she was always afraid to shake hands because then people would notice hers and how bad they looked. I could have cried, I felt so bad for her! I told her that if anyone would understand this, and overlook it, it would be at this conference! If it did nothing else for her, it was worth it just for that! But we got to meet so many people, and a gal I've become real close to through this list, so it was wonderful. Have your hands always been like this, and were you also teased terribly? Do you use any special kind of hand creme? I think Shanna has probably spent a fortune on hand cremes trying to change hers. She refuses to have the traditional photo taken when she gets married of the hands and wedding rings. I'd be interested in what your experience with this has been. Mine are wrinkled, but not like hers. Love Lana
Guest guest
Sue Hey..... That's interesting. I have always hated my hands because they have always looked so old. And yet I get compliments often about my skin and how young I look. I have been told that I could easily get away with being in my late 20s. I think that is a bit ambitious... but.. <Shrug> My Mum doesn't look (or act - regardless of her health) like she is 68 either. I can only hope I look as good as her when I am her age. At least my body will have caught up to my hands by then. <snicker> Blessings all today and everyday. Luv'n Hugz............. Guest guest
I was starting a new book today called, Medicine Woman, and in it there was a passage stating that one of the characters in the book was an MD visiting India to find out how to maintain the youthful appearance. The MD took temps of all the yogi masters and found that they all had a lower body temperature....thus slowing the aging process. He was trying to learn if the yogis could lower their body temps at will.... This book is autobiographical by the author so maybe what she wrote has some truth in it! So...? Maybe our lower body temps are the answer to our " youthful " looking faces? Bonnie bheint@... Hey Bonnie, I never thought of that one. Good point! How about low blood pressure too. On a good day, mine is only 100/60. Pam (Grin)
