Guest guest
When I was living in the UK they had a nice root vegi dish to go along with the Turkey, chestnut stuffing and Yorkshire pudding (pud). I think that you could make this all year. Just add ½ cup or so as one starch or carb choice!! Or 15 grams. YUMMY…… Roasted Roots Take a lot of different root veggies and cut them up in nice size pieces: Turnips Rutabakas Parsnips Yams Sweet potato White potato Carrots Whole mushrooms if you wish Onions and a bit of fresh chopped garlic Toss this with: fresh chopped up rosemary or chopped fresh sage or thyme. I use fresh rosemary. Toss this with Extra Virgin Olive oil and a bit of salt Baked 400 covered for 30 minutes and then bake 350 for about 30 more minutes uncovered. Check them and when they are all golden with a nice crisp crust they are done!! Yum…… I got this from a BBC cooking show while I was in the UK
Guest guest
This sounds good. However, I was under the impression that sweet potatoes and yams were the same thing, and in either case aren't they too sweet for us? Guest guest
Yams are a white tuber, almost potato like that is grown in Africa and Asia. we don't have " true " yams here in the us. Sweet potatoes are supposed to have a pretty Low glycemic value... Though, they are nasty to me... LOL... blech... Angelia in OR ----- Original Message ----- > This sounds good. Guest guest
I don't really care for them much myself, and they were on the list of 'foods to avoid' which my D.E. gave me.
