Hi Mike,

Yes there sure are others with the same problems out there - the thing is we

never have time to get to the computer as we are always in the bathroom :)

I just bought magnesium carbonate which worked for a few days and made a

pleasant change from psyllium. Then I tracked down hemp seed and ground it with

water to a milk to eat on home-made granola. I think that worked but it is hard

to say as it could be the increased flax seed or the lactose that I found

lurking in a pain killer (after I'd taken it).

Subject: Re: Constipation (Lydia)

I've been struggling with constipation off and on for some time now. I was

taking Dulcolax regularly. My roblem is that I've got very little bowel control

and as some of you may know when your constipated you usually have solid stool

that's followed by VERY loose stool. I was depending on the lax to clean me out

so I wasn't constantly in fear of a messy accident while away from a bathroom.

After discussing it with my therapist I decided to stop doing that in fear of

removing the helpful flora in the bowels with the lax.

My situation is quite paradoxical in that the constipation actually keeps me

from having no bowel control at all while it also aides in the feeling of having

to go all the time. Most days I'm forced to self-extract to get things moving.

NIGHTMARE...I know. I also take Xynax to help me sleep which is constipating in

itself. .It's very deoralizig but I guess it's give and take. I've yet to come

across another MSer with similar issues although I know they're out there.
