Guest guest
Kathy, At the time of my bypass (10/94), they repaired 3 small umbilical hernias, which I assume were from birth, having had no other surgeries in the neighborhood at the time. Then at TT time (13 months later), there were again 3 small hernias, same spot. THEN when I did my revision in January, there was one tiny hernia that we found just a week or two before surgery. REALLY tiny. Same spot. Will I get more? I'd bet yes. I just hope my pattern of eensy tiny ones continues as I am now to the point of selecting a color coordinated zipper to stop having to waste my time healing in between! Thanks, www.vitalady.com
Guest guest
> selecting a color coordinated zipper to stop having to waste my time > healing in between! Just an aside. I had an open RNY in 5/97 (being revised in 5/00). I have 3 other friends who decided to have surgery after seeing me. We are all local to one another, and known affctionately by the other friends in our group as 'The Zipper Girls'. 5/97 - Open RNY 298 lbs. 5/99 - Down to 160 lbs. 5/00 - Revision due, back up to 235 lbs. Guest guest
When the apron was removed they found a hernia an put in a piece of mesh to help reduce the chances of new ones. When I started doing physical therapy they had me doing ab exercises--Now I get twinges in though muscles and some pressure. Nothing that is painful--Just wierd feeling. Quite frankly since I want to go back and do a tummy tuck when I get to goal, it would almost be good to have a hernia (insurance wise). With the hernia they found I never had any pain or indication of anything wrong.
