Guest guest
I couldn't agree more. All the research I have done totally supports these statements. I have personally adopted this eating style. I eat within one hour of rising and then eat every three to four hours thereafter. It appears to some that I am eating constantly, but there aren't many calories in a bowl of steamed non-starchy vegetables and a side of broiled skinless/boneless chicken breast. There are more calories in a 24 ounce bottle of Coke. I never add fat or salt to any of my food. I find the plainer the better for me. My body likes simplicity. It tells me when I am off track. Robyn wrote: To Burn More Calories, Eat More Often That's right. The act of eating burns calories. In fact, digesting and absorbing food accounts for as much as 10 percent of your total metabolism. So by eating often - about every 3 hours - you keep your body's digestive mechanism working (burning calories) continuously throughout the day. Here's more you should know: Eat mini-meals instead of 3 large ones. If you're eating 5 or 6 times a day, you'll need to keep calories in check by eating smaller portions at each meal. The smaller meals won't leave you hungry, however, since there will be less of a gap between meals. Another argument in favor of mini-meals: when you eat too much the unused portion becomes stored as fat therefore making Eat breakfast - it gets your metabolism going! If you hold out until lunchtime, you're losing an entire morning's worth of digestion- driven calorie-burning. Make healthy choices that enhance digestion. Fruits, vegetables, whole grains and water promote digestion and keep your blood sugar levels balanced. In contrast, sugary snacks, foods high in saturated fats and inadequate water intake can make your digestive system sluggish and your blood sugar levels less stable. Understand that eating too few calories will backfire. It's true that if you're trying to lose weight, you must take in fewer calories than you burn. However, if you don't take in enough calories, your metabolism will actually slow down to conserve energy since your body can't gauge when you will eat again. We are a very active support group.
