Guest guest
Any info you could share > about HSGs and " SHG " would be appreciated! > Thanks -- Kate Kate, You may have already found the requested info, but just in case you didn't, here it is. An HSG, as you know, involves iodine and the floriscope (sp?) xray. An SHG (sonohystogram) involves passing a catheter through the cervix and injecting sterile saline solution into the uteruine cavity. Then, a transvaginal u/s is done to get a better view of the uterine contour while distended by the saline. If you are strongly suspicious of an iodine reaction to your HSG...then know that the SHG will be a better option for you - I think it will show the same thing. Have you had any other surgical/test procedures to which you've responded negatively to the iodine? I've had both because my MA isn't real obvious on ANY of the tests we've done thus far, including MRI. I thought the SHG was better than the HSG but that's only because they thankfully didn't use the clamp around my cervix for the SHG - ouch! I didn't experience any cramping with either one - just the FUN part of placing my feet up in the stirups yet one more time!! YIPPEE!! I must admit I'm much less inhibited about my body these days. Take care. Kristi 31, 1 m/c Partial SU (...we think)
