Guest guest
Why did you make the decision to have gastric bypass surgery? I want to live to see my son grow up and have a life. I weighed about 315lbs in October 2004. One Sunday afternoon that October, I went to a church potluck. Three hours later my blood sugar was up to 160, I felt sick. I got real scared. The next day I called the doctor to get lab work done for diabetes. My fasting blood sugar was 104 a couple of days later, I was diagnosed prediabetic. My sister is diabetic and my father is diabetic, I've watched them suffer with needles and medication. I decided that I'm not taking that route if it could be avoided. Perhaps, delayed much later in life (like my grandmother getting diabetes at age 90), I am willing to take a chance on gastric bypass surgery. My fasting blood sugar now is 85, much more normal. Are you happy with your results? Yes, I'm really glad I went through the surgery Did you reach your goal weight? No, not yet. I'm 9 months out, I'm a slow loser. I've lost 100lbs total since Feb. 2004, 60lbs since surgery. WLS DOCTORS Who is your gastric bypass surgeon? Dr Suh Do you recommend him? Yes Why did you choose him? Kaiser Permanente had a contract with his surgery group. I went to some of his seminars, and I really felt safe with him. I felt he was very knowledgeable & skillful
