Guest guest
How can this be when the Doc. has seen a vaginal septum and a > second cervix and I've been told that this means that I have an MA > that is most likely UD. Does anyone have any ideas on how all of > those ultrasounds say that I have a normal uterus with dimentions and > everything? I am so confused!! > > Dear : I too lost my right ovary and tube at 19 and have a long history with many u/s along the way. It wasn't until I was 33 that an anomoly was mentioned in any u/s reports, starting with the first HSG for primary infertility, then referred to a u/s where I assume they were looking for it, then MRI which unbelievably stated that I suffered from " bilateral ovarian cysts " (can you believe that one?), and finally the lap hys which confirmed SU at the time of the first resection attempt. So much " normal this " and " normal that " , it makes me very wary these days. In any case, you now hopefully are on the way to a proper dx. It's good that you are questioning these inconsistencies, and it would be good to ask your doc about it. I do know that we were born with our MS, they don't develop as we get older. Another thing I do know is that a uterus can be completely normal in size with an MS like SU. If it is not the same doc who did the other u/s, you should definitely discuss the inconsistencies with your doc. In my experience docs can get very upset and sometimes come up with the most bizarre justifications if ever confronted with their own inconsistencies or mis-diagnoses, i.e. be diplomatic about it if you are still seeing the same doc who conducted the u/s over the years... Good luck. Kind regards, (in France) 35, SU resected x2 ivf stims day 4 (crossing fingers)

Another intereting thing is that those ultrasounds came from three sepearate places and multiple docs performing them. One thing that is confusing is that in the Database on this site, in the article called " mullerian anomalies FAQ " it says " Transvaginal ultrasound is nearly 100% successful in detecting a bifid uterus... " This is confusing to me as all of the ultrasounds that I mentioned were transvaginal and none of them show a bifid uterus, yet I have the vaginal septum and double cervix. Were some of the u/s that you had transvaginal and they still didn't see the SU? hmmmm Thanks for your input and good luck to you too. M. 25 UD? Guest guest
, I haven't read everyone's posts in response to yours, so I'm probably saying what many of them are - you simply cannot trust the average u/s technician to know what s/he is looking at. Even after I had been diagnosed with SU through a lap/hyst, I had an u/s tech tell me I had a UU and argue with me about what it was. Many Ob-gyns aren't familiar with MA's, even...mine knew what it was, but immediately referred me to a RE. It's frustrating to know that diagnosis was missed so many times for you... Good luck.
