Guest guest
Hello All, While I am moving very slowly, I am back at the computer, which is a very good sign - must be all the attention from my cats..... Don't let anyone tell you that a Fox TT is the worst, I have decided that this beats that. I was discharged from the hospital with 5 drains and feeling pretty drugged, but ok on Sat. The only complication I had was severe anemia to a Hgb of 7 and Hct of 23. The PS didn't think I needed to be transfused, but I do and so does my internist. Time will tell. My concern is the minimmal iron absorption us bypass folks have along with the subnormal iron and ferritin stores I started with. Slept in a drugged state most of Sat and Sun (waking up to drink protein), but ended up severely dehydrated on Monday and needing 4 bags of IV fluids. such fun. I Feel much better today, close to human. Am anxious to get all these dressings off and maybe a drain or 2 removed when I see the PS tomorrow. Will update everyone then. Isn't this the greatest gift we could have ever been given. Life......Glad to be back. Carolyn
Guest guest
Yay! so very happy you are back Carolyn!!! 5 drains - whew! I can sure understand that you might need an iron transfusion ... might be helpful to your healing you know... my iron deficiency is getting way better & I'm very happy about that. It took a while for me to get the iron levels to finally move up... but it seems like once the iron starts to move upwards, it keeps going & coasting up for a while. In my case, I didn't realize how little iron I was taking compared with the amount I SHOULD have been taking. Boy do I feel SO much better! I don't know how you can stay awake for 5 mins with those numbers. Take your pain meds (percasets?) & welcome back!
