That was over 25 words and was questions only...lol

I've been busy trying to decide on a vehicle and make a purchase, while

researching lift combinations with vehicles and also figuring what

chairs will work with what lifts with what vehicles.

This has physically tired me, but mentally and emotionally exhausted me.

I do not deal with the stress of such decisions well. That's a residual

of my mental illness problems and day to day I'm fine, but throw major

decisions or road blocks at me and it takes everything I have. And, at

every step, things got more complicated. I wanted to avoid a van. So,

found relatively small SUV's that would " work " . Well, almost. Even found

some that the lift manufacturers had lifts for. Oh, just a couple of

problems. I knew you'd have to remove the second row of seats and that

wasn't too bad. But, where they had units that would work with only 30

inches of headroom and door clearance and the SUV's had 32 1/2 inches,

there are no chairs that are under 34 inches in height. So, what good is

the lift for which there is no chair? Then what about a short wheel base

van? Well, almost. So, finally I did it. Still not without some issues

remaining, but better now.

Now, I also did my tax return during the week. Didn't turn out quite as

bad as I expected but was complicated as got money for 2006 during 2007

from social security and gave it back to insurer so special provisions

apply both for the social security and the give back requiring

calculation of return many ways and even recalculating 2006 based on

what-if's to compare. Now, the relief was, after all was said and done,

turned out decently thanks to spending over $15,000 on medical care

during the year.

How am I feeling. Exhausted, but ok. Have counselor Monday too and

looking forward to her especially this week. Still not prepared for

Chicago trip. May have to delay. And, suppose to see UTSW transplant

people on the 15th. Lots of things on my list so going to relax over the

weekend, prioritize, and start back on Monday.

Meanwhile, glad I'm getting all these things done as physically I am

declining more rapidly than I'd like to admit. Now, its also complicated

by horrible allergens right now in this area and heavy congestion.

Actually, did some comparisons yesterday just to be sure where I stand

and what needs addressing. I'm definitely requiring more oxygen anytime

I'm moving around the apartment and more on treadmill. The other thing I

checked more scientifically on treadmill to see if what I thought was

factually supported was my breathing using the pulse portable Helios. I

am going to have to make a change there as 4 lpm on pulse isn't enough

and requires me to slow down. I found that on 4 lpm continuous liquid

versus 4 lpm pulse Helios last night at the same speed on the treadmill,

my sats were lower by 4-5% on the Helios. No one panic, I didn't let it

go below 90 before slowing down. So, going to have to get another

portable with higher continuous, higher pulse or both. I'm of the

opinion that a pulse such as Helios just won't work well for me when

highly congested as I don't exhale and inhale well enough to keep the

oxygen coming at the pace I need. So, probably heading to the

Companion1000, so 8 pounds to carry versus 3.6.

I've missed you all, but I just didn't have any energy left to even come

read, much less post. Once I'd sit down, to sleep I'd fall. Of course

then that means lousy sleep at night...lol

Bruce...oh I do not want to hear you are declining! A huge "DAMNIT!". You seem to be good about monitoring yourself, please keep it up.Rest and refresh yourself.

I've missed you but want more stability and if you can't post as much, then so be it. I'll call you!

Well, decline is to be expected with my form of the disease, so its

something I've anticipated. I just need to adjust equipment a bit to

take care of the increased needs.

If pulse works effectively for you, it has significant advantages. It

does work effectively for most people who are at relatively low liter

flows and some with higher flows. Also, each pulse machine and method is

a little different. So, don't take my experience to be yours. Just take

it as advice that if you're normally on continuous do not assume the

same liter flow of pulse will give the same saturation. It may or may

not. I think my problems center around both my congestion and the number

of breaths per minute I take (not enough sometimes). Also, because of

the suggestion I often breath through my mouth which, of course, does

nothing to initiate a pulse flow on a Helios tank. Do keep one thing in

mind too and that is you will need more liter flow on a plane than

sitting at home because of the altitude.

With the length of your flights, I don't see how you're going to have a

choice but to use the airlines oxygen on the plane and your portable

concentrator on the ground during layovers.

Dear Mr. Moreland:

We note your advice. The salesman carried out experiments with his

Ecclipse m/c. Max. saturation in continuous mode @ 2 lpm was 96%,

Which dropped to91% lpm on exertion. In pulse mode @ 3 lpm, the

saturation was same as for continuos flow @ 2 lpm, which dropped to

88 % on exertion.Do you think that these are significant

differences?. Secondly we have a continuous at home and we are home

bound most of the time. Airlines do not allow use of our m/c hence

pulse or continuous doesnt matter.Armed with the m/c we plan to go

on drives lasting for 4 hours or more even railway for 24 hours with

110 DC supply.I wonder whether it would amount to exertion for

her.PLs. let us have your take.

I think what you experienced is probably not far from typical. You

require it seems either 1 or 2 lpm more at pulse than at continuous. Now

the good news is that the Eclipse does go to 3 lpm on continuous and 6

lpm on pulse so, for now, it would seem you could get the levels you

need to stay saturated. Where you have current you should be ok. The big

advantage of the Eclipse is that is has both continuous and pulse

whereas the Inogen One only has pulse.

The extent of drives won't make any difference since you'll have it

plugged into the car. It should come with an auto adapter.

Get plenty of batteries and a charger. Now make sure you bring many

copies of your prescription in case it were to have problems in the US

and you had to rent something. Last, I don't think most airlines will

let you depend on their power even though they might let you use it. So

they may require you have enough battery power if they had no power,

which you can't on a long flight, so do check. If thats the case you'll

have to give in to using their oxygen on the flight itself.

Last, I don't know if you use humidification but you can do so with the

Eclipse. Based on what I know, if I were getting a travel concentrator,

the Eclipse would definitely be my choice.
