Welcome Conner so glad to meet you and to hae you in the group. Thank you for sharing your story and we look forward to sharing the IE journey with you. Eva

Hello everyone,My name is Connor, I'm 21 years old and I've been dieting for the past three years. I started when I went off to college to avoid gaining the freshman 15 and to try to lose 10-15 pounds. Each school year I'd lose the weight and then gain it back at home over the summer. This past spring semester I started becoming obsessed with food, it was all I thought about - my entire life revolved around my diet. I also started bingeing more frequently than I ever had in the past, I felt completely out of control. But then something great happened. Last semester I took a nutrition class (to learn how to lose weight) when my professor happened to mention two books she thought were great - "Intuitive Eating" and "Overcoming Overeating." Although I didn't have a full-blown eating disorder I knew that something was wrong and I copied down the names of the books right away. The first night I opened up "Intuitive Eating" I started crying, it was if someone had written a book about how I had been feeling. It felt good to know that someone else must be going through the same thing if someone took the time to write a book about it. That was a little over a month ago and I haven't counted points since then. It's definitely been difficult, it's so hard to know when you're hungry and what exactly you want. And while having the freedom to eat what I want when I want is liberating, it feels scary and out of control too. But I'm working on it, and that the important thing. Thanks for listening.~Connor------------------------------------

Hi all :) Johane is a new member and her intro post got routed to me

so I'm copying it over here to share with all of you - (Katcha)

Hello,

I am a 42 year old professional female and I have been following the

intuitive eating since late in 2007. I am glad to finally have the

tools to be the way I was before I ever started dieting, which was at

the age of 13. Before I was ever put on a diet I was a healthy normal

young girl who never obsessed or used food to quell emotions. I'm

really enjoying getting to retaste food and am quite surprised but

what I like and dislike. I am so thankful to have found this book and

the tools to help me.

Welcome Sofie so glad to have you with us. Eva

Hi, my mane is Sophia and I am new to this group and to IE. I too read an article in Health magazine (a month or so ago) and began to research the internet. I found the IE website and requested the book from the Library. I have had the book for a week now but have not read it. I will start today. I find that I am good at many things and/or responsibilities in life, but that I am usually last on my list. I have always struggled with body image and dieting. I am tired of it. I want to learn to truly honor my body and hunger as well as to become healthy and strong physically. I am currently at my highest weight (without child) 30lbs overweight. That is a lot for a small framed person. My back is constantly out and my neck and shoulders are in constant pain due to the extra weight. I am recovering from surgery due to a broken foot (I believe due to extra weight) I just started walking on it 5 days ago. It is intersting learing to walk on it again. I feel that I have hit a bottom health/fitnees wise and am ready to change. I look forward to learning and growing healthy with IE. I believe that being a part of this group can help me to stay on track. My MO is to do real good for about 2-3 weeks, then it's back to putting me last on the list. So hopefully, this not being a diet, but a way of life, I will find lasting change. Thank you for listening.SophiaSonora, CA------------------------------------

Welcome Sophia :) Glad to have you join us here. I so understand you

MO pattern - I think many of us have done just that too - hoped for

the promise offered by seductive dieting, tried to be SO GOOD and then

finding that that as a 'lifestyle' just isn't pleasant one bit.

Besides the 'failure' of not getting 'marvelous results' (yea right!).

Do read the IE book. It will help you understand the entire process,

and then join us as you do your baby steps, scream rants of

frustrations and crow successes too! And most importantly, don't let

your 'MO' trip you up with thinking that IE is about 'instant

results'!! Gift yourself a LIFE TIME of peace with food and knowing

that there is no 'failure' with IE - just lessons you learn as you go.

Best to you - Katcha

Welcome Betty so glad to have you with us. This is a wonderful group of caring supportive people. You will love it here. Eva

Hello Everyone! I'm new to the group. I've been so busy since I've joined. I haven't had a chance to introduce myself to everyone. My name is Betty Onellion and I'm 52 and a stay at home mom. I love being with my children. I still have three children at home. I'm a christian and love going to church and church activiities. I would love to lose weigh. I have tried diet after diet but once I get off of them I gain the weight back and more. I have been cutting back on what I eat and watching what I eat. Its a slow process but I have managed to lose 3 pound. Wow that's a lot. NOT Like so many people when I get nervous or worried I tend to eat more. I have a soft spot for Chocolate too. I love chocolate and its hard to stay away from it. I have a really bad habit and it is after I eat I have to have something sweet to eat. I wish that I could break that habit as well as the habit of eating when I'm worried, stressed over something or when I'm nervous. Does any one have any ideals that could help me? Thanks everyone!May God Bless you all!Betty O------------------------------------

Welcome Betty. You are in good company here - I'm a chocolate fan too!

I feared that I could/would never eat enough to help me legalize that

food for me, but I found it was possible. Now I don't even like dark

chocolate all that much, but there are times when chocolate still

'calls' to me. I am in the process of understanding why that happens

for me. I've gained LOTS of good ideas here and hope you find that

too. My trust in the IE concept and process has been what has helped

my most. I look forward to hearing about what you find most helpful too.

Best to you - Katcha
