Guest guest
gwynne bronchiectasis, i'm sure, is one of the conditions that makes up the copd umbrella together with chronic bronchitis and emphysema. my brother has had it all his life. he went to australia as he was advised it would be better for his lungs but it wasn't. salty sea air seems to suit him best. i grew up listening to him with it although he always tried to hide it. i have traction bronchiectasis as do others with pf. i used the fact that bronch is a copd to strong arm my consultant to authorise pulm reab. one of my father's sister had senility and the other alzheimers. both were cared for in a home for the last few years. one in a catholic nursing home run by my cousin. it is very hard on the families. my friend's mother, who has passed now, was afflicted. mhairi used to visit her every night from work and said that she was rewarded by a big smile as soon as her mother saw her even though she didn't know who she was while she sat with her. mhairi said it was that smile that kept her faith for years. my mum has emphysema although very mild. i feel that although we all have different lung conditions, perhaps there is a genetic disposition or weakness. my mother's father had lung surgery too when he was a boy but we dont know why. it was at the turn of the century. there was news this week of an author - terry prachett - being diagnosed with alzheimers and giving a million dollar donation for research. it has apparently motivated other donations. i am sorry for both you and your mother's loss of the comfort of each other. my mum wont talk to me about my condition but i can feel support from her in her body language. respect may uip 0606 glasgow scotland
