Guest guest
> Ah, so strange this subject came up at the most convenient time. I've opted to go off the pill after 9 years to try FAM. I am wondering how long, and if at all I will be out of wack from the pills. The doc seems to think if I was regular prior to the pill that I should just fall right back into rhythm. I don't know, what is regular for a 17yr old you know? Did you take a class on it? > > , I know you were asking for 's two-cents on the subject, but thought I would chime in a bit. I can't speak for your question on how long your system will take to get back into the rhythm. But, I can honestly say that I am a true believer of FAM! After being on the pill for four years, my dh and I decided to not prevent pg and to take the " lets see what happens " approach. After two years of NOTHING, I was directed by a friend to a book on FAM: Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler. I blew this suggestion off until two years later when AF continued to show up right on schedule. After a long-overdue infertility workup, we were told that we had unexplained infertility and that IUI was the best answer. As a last ditch effort before going IUI, I FINALLY bought the book. After educating myself on the complexity of my cycle, I began charting and was pg five cycles later - unassisted! So after four solid years of not preventing pregnancy (albeit not understanding the o-day timing, etc.), use of FAM for pg achievement was successful. I did not take a formal class on the subject...this book was all I needed to get upto speed. After I presented with a natural m/c after a failed D & C this last September (not knowing it had failed at the time), my doc decided to look into possible MA's. I'm in the process of testing to confirm a partial SU suggested by MRI. Hopeful that they can do lap/hyst & resection in early Feb, I'm now using FAM to prevent pregnancy. Quite disheartening to turn a full 180 and use the book for a completely different purpose - but I still have high confidence in the effectiveness of FAM in whichever way it's used. If you haven't yet gotten that book, I would HIGHLY recommend it!! Happy charting. Kristi 31 Partial SU
