Hi Barb, Mucinex and NAC are almost the same. Anytime my cough gets crazy or my nose is tooooo runny. I take NAC. The transplant Dr I saw told me to take it. Them my pulmo Dr told me to take it also.. Purtian pride has such good prices it is the place I order from. Love and Prayers, PeggyHave a God Blessed Day Just jumping in here and not really knowing of what I speak....wouldMucinex help? It's OTC (Over The Counter) and fairly reasonable inprice. And I think they make 2 different kinds. One to suppress acough or one to expectorate.....might make a decent change from thecough drops, if only for a while so he can get his taste buds back.I've been reading your posts and you are doing the right thing inasking all the questions. That was the case for me. I wason up to 100mg of prednisone from June 2006 through February 2007before I was weaned off. My side effects were unpleasant but my doctorwas aggressive in helping me manage them. My belief is that initiallythe prednisone helped save my life and then stablized my disease. I was on Nexium and Carafate for my stomach. I wastaking insulin because in high doses the prednisone made my bloodsugars go crazy. I was on Zoloft because I was having rather wild moodswings. I had awful insomnia but there was nothing I could take for itbecause everything suppressed my respirations. I think you alsomentioned that Don has a horrible cough.
