I have had it done with every PG before including this one. The orange drink

reminds me of a really sweet soda. I didn't get sick but I did have someone go

with me incase I did because I have gotten sick from it in the past. The first

one I had to do was the orange and they do a blood test an hour later but

because I failed that one, I had to take a 3 hour test. The drink was

lemon/lime and I had to fast before it. We passed that one. It really isn't

that bad especially if you are used to drinking regular soda.

:)

GLUCOSE SCREENING

Okay, who can fill me in on this??? I just got back from my dr.

appt. and next time I go in I have to drink that orange stuff to get

my blood tested. Is this stuff gross and will it make me sick?

Should I have someone drive me that day in case I get sick. I read

on the bottle taht it can cause nausea, vomiting, abdominal bloating,

and headache.

I told my ob that I never have been screened for this before with my

other pg. He just looked at me?!?! Is it normal to get this done

with EVERY pg. If so, I just wonder how my past ob's could have let

it pass by without noticing. Unless there was some other way to test

for this 8 years, I didn't get the screening cause I never remember

having to drink anything before with my other 3.

I never had to do this with my other 4 either but am required to do

it between weeks 25-28 with this pregnancy, maybe it's because of age

I'll be 40.

No need to fret. The orange stuff shouldn't really make you ill. When

I had my first child 18 yrs ago I had to go for a 8 hour glucose

tolerence test. Yes, 8 hrs- every hour for 8 hrs I had to drink a

bottle of the orange stuff. The only negative affect it had on me was

I hated orange soda for the longest time after that! I'm still not

too fond of it :) Needless to say when I had to have the test done

with my next 3 pregnancies I didn't choose the orange flavor, I opted

for the coke flavored. But they were only 1 hour tests so it didn't

taste as bad.

Good Luck.

I didn't get a choice either. They have orange for the 1 hour test and

lemon/lime for the 3 hour test. They had different amounts of glucose in them.

:)

Re: GLUCOSE SCREENING
