Guest guest
Hi DD - I, too was a bit skeptical but the day before I read that post about watermelon, I had eaten more than 1/4 of a watermelon in one day! I've always loved ice cold watermelon and living here in SC where it's just not hot, but humid too - I " pigged " out! I had it for lunch and some more for dinner. The next day, I was in so much pain - that was the day I read the post. I really don't think it was the power of suggestion as I was already in pain when I read it all. I am definitely leaning towards believing it. What I do believe is that there is a strong possiblity that if nothing else, it aggrevates RA. I wonder what thinks????? in SC ltdavis_jrdavis@... From: dgd301@... <dgd301@...> Subject: [ ] Watermelon Flare? Date: Saturday, August 1, 2009, 2:43 PM My left knee started hurting a little bit on Thursday. When I got home from work Friday, my husband had bought some watermelon and brought some to me. It was really good and I was thinking " should I be doing this? " I don't think I've eaten watermelon since I've been diagnosed with RA. Well, today, my knee is so swollen, it reminds of what it was like before I started treatment. Was it the watermelon, or power of suggestion? Don't know, but think I'll avoid it. dd ************ **A Good Credit Score is 700 or Above. See yours in just 2 easy steps! Guest guest
It's figures that watermelon is 'listed' for causing flares, when it's one of the low acid foods that someone with ulcers is allowed to eat. Such a bummer!! Tomato sauce gives me major flares. I didn't put the two together until I started keeping a food diary for WW. Anytime I've had marinara sauce or salsa (lots of it) I hurt like crazy. One slice of tomato on a sandwhich does NOT seem to trigger a flare, thank goodness! Guest guest
I'm not sure, . I hadn't considered watermelon as flare-inducing and haven't read anything related to that.
