Guest guest
No, Lori, my PCP didn't prescribe antibiotics. That's because they can cause a yeast infection. She just wanted to wait and see what happened. I did a lot of research, and even though the culture showed that it was strep and not yeast, I don't believe it. What I found on strep said that it didn't usually cause symptoms, just was problematic in pregnant women. I've had enough yeast infections before to know that this was the same, only worse. But it finally did start getting better, after I had used Monistat for a week and the Diflucan had had a few days to work. I also applied plain yogurt to the area and took acidophilus tablets. If it had been strep, I doubt that it would have gotten better on its own. Also, I checked on the Enbrel site, and a yeast infection is one of the opportunistic infections that can happen with the use of Enbrel. Of course they call it candidiasis. So I am convinced that my original self-diagnosis was right. I called the doctor today, but they said she had a lot of patients waiting to see her and to call back this afternoon. By that time, I was involved in cleaning out a closet and also I was so much better that I thought I'd wait a while longer and see how things progressed.
