Guest guest
after hitting " send " i realized that the first post referenced a survey and polls that are not available in this group. those remarks have been edited out of this post. i'm sorry for the confusion that it may cause for people that read this group by email. chalk it up to a fibro 'duh uh' moment and posting at 2:30am. " miracharis hi folks. i mostly lurk here. i made this post to another group i'm in, but it's something i feel strongly about and hope it can help others here. Mira I believe people when they post this after hearing from ignorant doctors and bean pushers from insurance companies. I believe you, but I can't believe it. Fine then. They don't think medication should be prescribed for fibro? okay, we can play the game. first of all, collect every dx available. secondly, if you hear those stupid, words from someone clueless, then say " what can you prescribe for chronic pain? " because it seems getting help for chronic pain, a hallmark of fibro, is easier than getting help for " fibro alone. " keep a record of *every* possible symptom you have, new ones and old ones. don't forget to include side effects from medications. check off your symptoms, seek treatment for them as separate entities if you must. i've also used that checklist to gauge how i'm doing. sometimes when i'm too out of it to write up a list for my doctors, i go to the polls, check off what applies, print it out and bring that in. My doctors like it, plus when printing it out, the date comes out. it serves as a benchmark of what's going on. btw, i learned the trick of " collecting dx's " from the very nice man that did the psych eval on me when i applied for SSDI. and my rheumy likes this 'trick' too because tht way, ins. cos. will cover needed treatments. my GP and pain doctor now " play this game " too. yes, it's sad and sick we have to do this, but getting proper treatment is very much needed to " have a life.
