Hi :-) Welcome to the group (it sounded as if this was your first post). Errr .... I have a little bit of that same *general* problem, too, (sexual dysfunction) .... wish I could help, but being a guy, we obviously experience things a bit differently :-) I have had numbness in the feet, but it has become minimal as my BGs have improved. Exercise has been key to this. Sorry to hear about your medication .... My BGs became so well-controlled lately that my Dr. took me off of Amaryl and I am now taking only the glucophage. If I keep improving, I may be able to quit that, too. Anyway, take care and good luck. :-) Cheers, Dave in Virginia (native to California)
Guest guest
Hi Dave! I have sorta new! I been here since Friday! LOL As for the sexual disfunction how is that treated in men? What I have is pain during sex. I told my doc, also a diabetic, he suggested taking a vagianl applicator and using about 1/2 a inch of Lanicane before we have sex. I tell you what that night I was on their web site thanking them. For years I had such pain it felt as I was loosing my virginity each time. But no longer. The only bad thing is my hubby has to wear a condom or he will go numb. (found out by accident...LOL) As for working out...I lift weights and strech. Will be swimming as soon as open swim starts. I am in a wheel chair because I have degeneritigve osto artritis. I can walk very far or stand for long. But I can sit to the cows come home!!! LOL Take care.... > >I was just switched from my medication Friday was on Actos and > >Glucotrol XL and now on Avandamet. How long will it take for it to > >start working? It doesn't seem to be. Guest guest
, avandamet seemed to help me the most after I'd been on it for a few weeks. Each day I could see slightly better results, but I wasn't on any med prior to starting. I'm on 2/500 and take it in the evening. So far I don't have any nerve damage. The only issue I have and I think it's related to the avanadamet is I retain fluids. I do have a lack of desire, but I think that's more from breastfeeding my daughter than anything. I do notice I was more weepy when I began the avandamet and I do feel depressed with no apparant personal issue as the cause. I don't feel weepy, just blah.
