Bruce and Zena: Kaleb is 5 and I couldn't agree with you more that

it is best to be honest with him. He's been to many appts. with me

and he's been with me on my trips to Pittsburgh to see the transplant

team too. I answer every question he asks in an age appropriate

manner and he knows exactly what is wrong with me. When people ask

me, he often answers for me. He is a brave little boy and I worry

about him the most, yet he is the most open person I talk to. His

questions are frank and to the point. He doesn't tip toe around my

feelings and sometimes that is hard for others around to understand,

but he is asking all the questions others are afraid to ask. He

understands death too, as a result of our faith and presence in

church. So, I am glad I can be honest with him and give him the

answers to his questions, even when it's hard for me to do so.

God Bless,

Tina

Definitely being honest with Lili from the start has made things easier, but she is more inclined to asked the 'difficult' questions that adults would baulk at asking in case it upsets me or them. She's quite sweet, she thinks I can't go camping because my hose from my concentrator isn't long enough and she was telling a friend that 'mummy wants new lungs, but she can't have mine as they are too small and I'm not dead yet! ' The look on my friends face was an absolute picture

I think I worry least about her coping as it's all normal too her. Kids are so accepting at that age. She also has helped me to see things in a different light. I was having a bad day with my hose once, it kept getting tangled up and I was getting very frustrated, she came up and gave me a kiss, and then kissed my hose. I asked her why she did that and she said 'I love your hose. It's making you better' Can't say fairer than that really can you

Oh Ze what a gorgeous girl you've got there! Lili is a very special kid! Tina's Kaleb is another one who pulls the heartstrings. Such wisdom from their pure young hearts. They just see it AND say it like it IS!
