Guest guest
I have to post and brag about how *wonderful* things are going and try to put some of you pre-ops coming up soon at ease. Tomorrow will be 3 weeks from the date of my surgery. I have lost 30 pounds and have never felt better. I drink my protein supplement everyday, take my vitamins, and walk - even if it's just down the street and back. The hospital experience was a breeze. You really need to be vocal to the nurses and the aides about what makes you comfortable. I preferred to have my room really cool and all drapes drawn and doors closed. For me, the best way to heal myself is to sleep when I need to. The worst part was when I had my catheter in and started my period directly after surgery (sorry for the graphics guys), I was not a happy camper. The next thing that was not such a good thing was my buddy who had surgery a day before me (and was recuperating a day ahead of me) would fling my door open at 3am and insist I walk with her. (They finally had to put a " no visitors " sign on my door.) The best suggestion I have is when you have to get up to pee, take a swing around the 7th floor. Each time you do it is easier and easier. You *will* question what you've done the right after - and the day after surgery, but then it just gets better and better and you start thinking " that wasn't so bad... " My heart goes out to all of you who are completely preoccupied with worry and what-if's. But once you are on the other side, you realize how much time you used up - you'll be amazed. This is the best thing I've ever done for me and my family... Love and hugs to you all. Post-op 5/22 PB/Dr. Tanaka 270/250/220 wah hoo!
