Guest guest
Dear Debbie, Was this an MD who prescribed these medications and did is she in the appropriate specialy? Cand you transer to someone oelse. I hope your night sweats stop soon, we Fibromites have enough trouble getting sleep. I know most people do not care for reporting physicians to the local AMA but her actions could have been deadly. it seems that all too often physicians don't read anymore. another freind of mind, had a similar experience. You are right, you have plenty to vent about. Take care, Anne-Marie I'm in shock O.K.....sorry about this but I feel the need to vent. Teddy and Jacqui both told me that taking zoloft (an anti-depressant) and trazodone (another anti-depressant) together can be very harmful. Well, I listened to them and went to the website to check out all the interactions between my drugs and I find out to my horror that they are absolutely right. The reason I need to vent is not due to them....it is due to my idiot, impersonating a human being, ought to be locked up psychotic, call yourself a doctor, doctor. I was in her office two Fridays ago.....thought I was going through the change, cause I keep getting hot flashes...especially at night when I am sleeping...(you know the same time that the Tramadol would be working for me) and I told her that I had a hard time waking up and have been shaking. Her answer to me was to check my blood to see if I was going through the change and to re-fill all my prescriptions, and suggest that maybe this was all due to depression. To top it all off, she should have gotten the results back on the blood test and found them to be negative (cause that is what I was told) and yet she still hasn't put two and two together.....anybody have a brick? The thing that makes me the maddest is that I read that I can have a severe reaction to the two which includes sweating, tremors and coma, yet she just refills my prescriptions after I have told her I am sweating, having tremors and having a hard time waking up. I guess she figured that if I went into a coma, I wouldn't be around to bother her anymore!!! AAAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!! O.K.....I'll get down off of my soapbox now....just one more question......Are there any REAL doctors left out there? Guest guest
I have met two real Doc's in my life. One is Dr Kathy she practices in Denver and the other is Dr Cottle and he practices in Beuna Vista. Please ask your pharmacist what the drug is for and tell them of everything that is wrong with you. I felt the same way after the Nueronton. You can also look the drugs up and see before you try. Unfortunately now adays they herd us in and out like cattle and one important thing that I want to mention. DR HAVE A LISCENCE TO PRACTICE MEDICINE. IT DOESN'T MAKE THEM ALL KNOWING OR TRUSTWORTHY. Always check it out for yourself. I could tell you many horror stories of what has happened to me in the hands of Doc's till I started questioning them So sorry hon that this had to happen. Great big hugs to you and anytime you want to vent scream or whatever you need just holler. Teddy

Guest guest
Debbie, Talk to the pharmacist hon and see what they say. Just cause she says it's safe if you are having side effects and are scared you should not have to do things that you are afraid of. It's your body and your disease and you need to be comfortable with the decisions to treat. Teddy

Guest guest
Stupid laptop sorry I sent a blank message there. Debbie, I have lost all trust in them too. And because most doc's won't treat me because I come into the office second guessing them and always have a pile of papers to prove it. I don't agree about not to believe the internet hon. My shrink recommends me looking everything up on the net. And I have compared to the physicians drug inserts and they are right on the money. You can also ask your pharmasist for the physicians drug inserts and they have to give them to you. They will better prepare you for what you are taking. I wanted to caution you on something though don't just quit that med. you need to ween yourself off of it because your body no longer knows how to function without it. I hate to see you go right down the tubes. that's one of the things I hate about the new drugs if they cause you problems you are forced to take them and back off slowly because they actually change the way your brain waves work. Guest guest
Anne-Marie, I called her office today and left a message with her nurse about my concerns and the drug interactions. Her reply was that I shouldn't believe everything I read on the internet and that those two drugs together are not harmful. She states that they might be in a larger dose, but attributes my night sweats to zoloft alone. I give up, but I do know that I am looking for a real doctor. Debbie G. Guest guest
Pam, I talked to my doctors office this morning regarding the two drugs I was taking and their response was for me to not believe everything I read on the internet and that if I was taking higher doses of these, then I should be concerned, but since I'm not, I shouldn't concern myself. Was also told to cut the trazodone in half and try that, but at this point I'm afraid to take it with the zoloft....not looking forward to possibly ending up in a coma...I don't know why that would scare me....I mean honestly....my doctor is so knowedgeable that I should just listen to her and know I'm in good hands....(Boy...I could barely choke that one out!) Guest guest
Jacqui, Thank you for your concern, but talking with my doctor about trazodone and zoloft being taken together is a waste of time. Believe me, I already did. I was told that I shouldn't believe everything I read on the internet and that if I were on a higher dosage, I should be concerned, but since my dosage is so low, I shouldn't worry about it. I however plan on discontinuing taking the trazodone because I don't think that a coma is any way to deal with FMS. Debbie G. Re: I'm In Shock Hi Debbie G, I don't you blame you for being upset hun, I would be too. I've seen doctors prescribe drugs that warn about taking them together, but when I ask, they will say that the benefits outweigh the dangers. But I know in many cases, they will not combine certain drugs together period. I remember reading the posts telling you that Zoloft and Trazadone can be harmful together, but I can't take credit for writing one of them, I didn't know they were. (Shame on me for not knowing, after the story I'm about to share) I do know that my ex-hubby's mom was taking both of them together and several other meds and she was like a zombie. She fell down the 4 steps leading to her bedroom a couple of years ago and I went to the emergency room with her. I stayed at the hospital with her 24/7 for almost 2 weeks. It was 4 days before that poor lady knew what year it was and could name all of her children and recognize them when she saw them...things like that... They discussed the possibility of a Concussion, but she only went fell from the 2nd step to the center of the carpeted floor. There was no bumps or bruises on her head or face, just on her back, legs and arms. I talked with each one of her doctors myself and a couple of them came to the conclusion that it was a combination of her meds and that she was being over medicated. They never told me which meds, or which doctor to blame, but I was there the night one of her doctors was in a rage about all the meds and I know for a fact that Trazadone is the one he wanted her taken off of immediately. He didn't say there was anything wrong with the drug itself, just that the Psychiatrist who had prescribed it, had her a very strong dosage, especially considering the other meds she was taking at that time. Just tell your doctors what you read and insist on some answers hun. {{{hugs}}} Gentle Hugs and Love, Jacqui "Anything less than mad, passionate, extraordinary love is a waste of time. There are too many mediocre things in life and love shouldn't be one of them." ~*~CHAT TIME:~*~MON & THURS Day Eastern 4 PM, Central 3 PM, Mt 2 PM Pacific 1 PM Night Eastern 9 Pm, Central 8 Pm, Mt 7 PM Pacific 6 PM WHERE: /chat/ VIPIf there is a problem on this list notify.Co-Moderator The_List_Owner@...Add or view links about fibro/CFS.http://www.onelist.com/links/ TO unsubscribe.Go to: http://www.onelist.com/ to this list and unsub from it. Guest guest
my doctor doesnt have a problem with me looking up stuff on the internet. but he sometimes disagrees because what is right for someone might be different for another. 1 has a side effect the other doesnt. He likes that i have people to talk to about all that is happening to me. The one thing that bothers me about my doctors. is that when i call my pcp for something other than a lung problem,, he sends me to a specialist, and so on, so i have like 4 doctors and they are all confused on what to give me, or what not to give me. I was told a while I have 4 charts 4 inches thick

Guest guest
Teddy, That is why they call it practicing medicine.....unfortunately most doctors do not like to be questioned because they have put themselves up on a pedestal. Guest guest
Teddy, I did speak to the pharmacist and she told me that I was on such a low dosage of zoloft, that I should be just fine. Guest guest
Debbi, Well if you still feel uncomfortale then I am a firm believer that you should stop taking it. You have to feel safe or it causes flare ups there are tons of antidepressants on the market there is no need to take one that makes you uncomfortable.
