Guest guest
Oh Norene ((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))) You are NOT alone, we ALL at some point have felt the same way as you !!!! There are SO many things you can try, I don't even know where to start. Do you take anything daily to help with the fibro? I don't mean pain meds but something like an anti-D, muscle relaxer etc. Plus you NEED to speak with your doctor to let him know that the pain meds that you have DO NOT help with break thru pain. A few suggestions when in extreme pain would be to use something like Biofreeze or the nw 024Fibromyalgia, soak in the tub (epsom salts can help too), light stretching to loosen up tight muscles, heat or ice-dependant on what works best for you. I love using a heating pad or my moist lavendar neck wrap when I have neck and shoulder pain. Those are a few of the things I can think of off the top of my head that may help a bit and that I use when in a major flare. I hope a few of my suggestions help and please contact your doctor. He is supposed to be there to help you. If he won't help, find someone that WILL !!!!! Fibro Hugs ** Norene wrote: Hello friends,It's me again. I haven't posted in a while, been feeling like crap. I'm having such a hard time tonight and previously. My pain seems to be getting worse. This last flare lasted longer, a couple weeks. The pain is also more intense. I am on pain meds from my doc, but they don't touch it some days. I just sit and cry at times. I have been trying to get into a regular routine of exercise at our YMCA. I don't know if I should still go and exercise while I'm in pain hoping it helps, or wait until the pain subsides. I feel scared a lot and am prone to panic attacks when the pain gets intolerable, but I'm doing better with these now that I have absorbed some knowledge about fibro. It is just so difficult to get into a healthy routine when I'm feeling this bad. Thanks to you all for listening. Take care and God Bless, Norene Yahoo! MailBring photos to life! Guest guest
Hi Norene I also find that a soak in the tub, or in my case, a sit in the shower with the water running over me. Very warm works best for me. There are some times when the pain meds don't seem to help, or they take longer anyway. I have been taking something called Fibroflex, that I got from my Chiro. I think it is helping me. I am not sure yet if it is the meds, or that I am having a better time. Hope you get to feeling better soon! Peggyb Need to talk, please. Hello friends, It's me again. Guest guest
Norene- My doc sent me to physical therapy when I was in a major flare recently (this weather is killer). They had me lying on warm wet heat for 15 min. on my back and neck while a nerve stimulator gently ( and I repeat gently) massaged my back and neck. I was then to do stretches and things finally eased a bit (with the help of some good pain meds). At one point, I was doing the stretching just a little too vigourously and the PT said "Careful, this is supposed to be gentle, you don't want to flare more". So, it may be that the excersize isn't the best thing right now. My doc suggested water aerobics more than anything else. It's bouyant and safer than all those scarey machines. We can overdo it, and make the flare worse. I graduated from the PT and they sent me home with a TENS unit. (small device, fits on my belt which is the same thing as the nerve stimulator that the Physical therapy people use) and I plug that honey in when I need it. It's very unobtrusive, the wires go under your clothes and you can wear it at work. I've done it, and no one notices. Get back to your doctor and tell him/her what you need for some relief. Hot water does help, but you need your meds adjusted maybe. I think we all get to a point where our bodies adjust to the meds and they just don't cut it anymore. If your gym has a whirlpool, that's about the best I've found. Don't give up. We're here for you. Ann K. in Mi.Norene wrote: Hello friends,It's me again. Guest guest
Hello Norene, I have post polio and fibro so I really don't know when my fibro flares up, but they have my on cymbalta and lyrica for post polio and neruopathy and it keeps the pain down and some times gone. I still love those hot soaking baths and hot shower. Hope you get some relief soon. Becky --- Norene wrote: > Hello friends, > It's me again. I haven't posted in a while, been > feeling like crap. Guest guest
Hi Norene My dear friend I do hope you are feeling better. I was off work for the March break and as usual was as sick as a dog!!! ( I just hope I didn't look as bad as I felt LOL!) Any way been having some funny things going on with my computer ( which seems to have worked itself away...I hope) so I haven't been online. Just started weeding through all the emails and I read yours. I'm sorry I didn't write sooner but WoW!! aren't these people great...they gave you excellent advice!! You need to believe a little more in yourself and listen to your body. My dear caring friend your body needs you to take it slow and easy physically and mentally. I know how hard you are on yourself. You can't blame your flares on anything YOU do everytime. It is a fact of FM life unfortunately. We all do the best we can to hold them off and shorten there stay. How are you doing other wise Norene? Spring is here!!!! So things have to be looking up. Gentle hugs Norene wrote: Hello friends,It's me again. I haven't posted in a while, been feeling like crap.
