Guest guest
Hi Donna, I had the handicap placard that you hang from the rear view mirror. when it expired, my hubby went and got me the license plate with the symbol on it. It depends on what kind of day I'm having. Some days I walk , some days I use the electric cart. -- Handi cap parking I was just wondering if any of you use handicap parking? I am really tempted to talk to my doctor to see if I can get a permit on those days when it seems the entrance to the stores is miles away. My husband noticed that alot of the parking lots around here seem to be up-hill. On bad days he'll drop me off at the entrance but usually I try to walk it. Also do most of you walk around in the stores or use one of those electric carts to get around? Donna 1. While it is wonderful to share our experiences with everyone on the list as to what treatments do and don't work for us, pls always check with your dr. Some treatments are dangerous when given along with other meds as well as to certain health conditions or just dangerous in general. 2. If you are in a difficult situation (doesn't matter what it is) pls don't be afraid to ask for help. It is the first step to trying to make that situation better. 3. To unsubscribe the e-mail is: Fibromyalgia_Support_Group-unsubscribe 4. Also, it is not uncommon for more than one member to be feeling bad at the same time when it comes to flares and b/c of that potentially take something another member says the wrong way. And that includes the things that one member may find funny (even if it's laughing at fibro itself) even though we who deal with illness whether one such as fibro or multiple illnesses try to keep a sense of humor. 5. Pls let's be gentle with each other, and if you are having a bad day pls let us know so that we can do our best to offer our support. Have a nice day everyone. Guest guest
For years I had great difficulty walking around stores and eventually started using a cart. Sadly now I can only walk a few steps, so I have no option other than to use a cart all the time. There is no way I can even walk from the disabled parking to the store. Guest guest
I have a handicap placard. If I feel wonderful that day I don't park there but let me tell you, it comes in handy. I have a horrible spine too though. This weekend I dropped two, count them two, banquet tables against my shin at two different times on Saturday. Talk about hurting. I can't even stand for my jeans to lay against it today. Both tables hit the same spot on my shin. It hurts to walk. It hurts to stand. Hurts to sit. I think that it's the dangling. Oh, well. Like I said, if I feel good then I don't use my placard. Most of the time I use it for work. If I don't, then I end up 3 blocks away to park and in the middle of winter, I'm not chancing falling on the snow or ice with my spine. Guest guest
>Donna, I finally broke down and asked my Dr. to sign for a handicap sign ( I always had tried to avoid it, Im 51- not 91) Days I'm doing good--I don't use it--Days I'm bad I do. Although I've noticed some of the " Handicapped parking is no closer than any other spot--and you're real lucky to find Handicap parking period! As far as the electric carts--I had to use it once--I'm a real poor driver----I've decided if I'm bad enough to use a cart, ( and again, you're lucky if ones available--around here it seems people just use them for the fun of it or let their brats play with them.) I'll stay home, which I've been doing a lot lately. Dawn I was just wondering if any of you use handicap parking? >
Guest guest
I wish I had a handicap sticker some days but no, I don't use it. I also walk around the store instead of the electric carts. Even though the walking is painful after a while I don't feel that I should be using the carts or a handicap sticker because all I have is fibro and sciatica and that those are for people who are more disabled. But that is just MY opinion concerning myself. Guest guest
Nope dont have one, maybe in the future though. Right now I dont have enough really bad days to need one. Before I was being treated I really was in sad shape, and probably could have used one. I know Im lucky and on days when I dont feel well enough to do things I just stay home. I know most people dont have that option. Use whatever you need to make your quality of life better. Dont feel embarrassed or self conscious, do what you need to make your life work ! deb

Guest guest
I don't have a permit or use an electric cart, but apparently my fibro is a pretty low-level case. On days when my chondromalacia is really acting up, though, I wish I had one - especially if the lot slopes up hill! Guest guest
I try walking as much as possible. In the stores I will push a cart just to have something to hang on to sometimes. Guest guest
Oh yes, I use handicapped parking. I have had two knee replacements as well as having Fibro. And when it is raining, I would drown before I got to the door, if I weren't close. I walk around the stores, hate to use the electronic carts, although on a really bad day I will, but I use the shopping cart to help me walk. I sure don't' take a chance of falling on the ice or snow either. I have damaged my knee and had to have revision surgery on it, and I sure don't' want that again. Also, when I do go down, I literaly can't get up without help. I used to feel bad about using the handicaped parking, but I don't' any more. I do see people who seem to get around better than me, using it, and also using the handicapped stall in the restrooms. Although, I really don't' know how bad off they are, so I can't really say anything Peggyb Re: Handi cap parking I have a handicap placard.
