Weight Loss Commitment

I just joined the group. My biggest thing is trying to figure out just what I

can eat. Just find out that I am a diabetic just bearly a month. I am trying

to get my number to level, but at least it better than 489 when I went to

the doctor. I am going to try to lose at least 4 pound during the month of

September. I weight this morning at 172.

well welcome to the group, I am Helen and I was diagnosed in June wit bg's

475. I also had gained up to 169 1/2 pounds .........I am now at 154 and have

felt my way to what I could eat and couldn't. You will find this group very

informative but you will also find that this is a very individual disease and

" one size " doesn't fit all. We could each tell you what we eat but you will

have to figure what is best for you. There are two books I recommend as a must

" The First Year Type 2 Diabetes " by Gretchen Becker she is a Dr and also

diabetic herself. Then Diabetes for Dummy's is the other one. I am on

Glucontol XL 10 mg a day and check my bg's twice a day. I eat no sugar, low

carbs and almost no fat. Wasn't easy to figure out but I think what I am doing

now is right.....good side of this is I can see a new wardrobe coming as I now

only have a few things that fit and they are getting loose...I don't think I

want to see my size 2's again but an 8 would be nice. I live in Alabama and I am

no spring chicken I am 68 years old. Welcome again to the group...

I will be doing a report this afternoon on the amount of weight lost during

Aug. These are the members that have responded. If you have not responded and

Hi everyone:

Well........I did pretty well in September. I didn't quite make my

goal....but I am happy with what I accomplished. I lost 6 pounds, so my weight

now is

292.

My goal for October will be 8 pounds. I want to weigh 284 by the end of

this month. It is very hard...but I am trying my best!

My heartiest congratulations to all for their accomplishments in September!

We all know how hard this is......but it is well worth our efforts, so that

we can be healthier!

, I think you did awsome at losing 6lbs. As an old friend used

to say, that's 6 you lost, 5 you didn't gain, that's 11 lbs! :-)
