Guest guest
Dawn, You're not doing anything wrong. The medical proffession seems to be on a one way track when it comes to treatment (usually the standard treatments). They seem to get pissed off when you do ask them questions about what might work that is different from the usual. I've had the same thing happen to me a few times, but Im at the point where I have been through so much medical crap and been given less than satisfactory treatment, that I dont give a damn how pissed off they might get. I still question them! If I find they are not receptive to anything other than what THEY think should be done than I know not to continue with that Dr. We all have been through so much in dealing with this condition that we deserve the proper attention from Drs. I wish that I was like some people and have complete trust in what their Dr tells them( it might ease the stress of this some), but after what I've been through and now going all over trying to conquer rosacea ,I listen to what they have to say and then determine for myself what seems right. Im glad I found this group when I did. Ive learned alot from all of you, much more than all the derms Ive gone to so far. (and Im not done yet!!). So dont let them be curt and pissed off with you for just wanting to find the best possible solution for you. Fight them!!! I here you Texas gals can be tough when you want to be!!! Guest guest
wow what a jerk! IMO, you're not doing anything wrong. i think it's time to change docs. my first derm put me on hydrocortisone cream and regular tetracycline. didn't do a darn thing. and it progressed. if i relied on him, well....i changed docs and am very happy that i did. if you can't feel comfortable with your doc, if he/she doesn't show compassion/empathy, it's not you!! change him. or tell him how you feel. laura oldstuff@... wrote: > cea still sux but at least I no longer feel like some huge, nasty cosmic joke has been played on me and me alone. Also, ya'll (yes, I say ya'll--I'm from Texas) always offer such good, solid, well-thought-out advice. Anyway, I've kept careful notes since finding this group, and I made a list of facts & questions for my derm. In consideration of his time, I mailed it to him the week prior to my appointment, thinking he'd appreciate being able to read and consider the info instead of having it thrust suddenly in his face during my visit. WRONG. Not only did he fail to appreciate my new-found knowlege and my consideration of his time, he seemed thoroughly PO'd that I'd found all that info. He was curt, disdainful and in geneal as ass. Every magazine article you read about visiting the doctor advises the reader to write thier questions down prior to the appointment, but every time I do it it seems to p# & them off. Guest guest
, I agree that I should probably look for another derm, but I really liked this guy before this happened. He was always nice and seemed concerned and knowlegable. There's something about taking that list of questions out of your purse or pocket that sets thier teeth on edge. And if you REALLY want to see them seethe, give them some new research or treatment info you've found on the net or in a book. I don't get it. I have an antiques shop, and I LOVE to have a customer walk in and tell me something I didn't already know. I like it when my clientele is knowlegable and informed...it usually means they keep the stupid questions to a minumum and we can have an interesting chat. Docs seem to want dummies who can't think for themselves. Go figure. dawn wrote: Original Article: /list/rosacea-support/?start=1820 > wow what a jerk!
