Barbara,

That is funny! Twenty years ago when they first built a K-Mart here in Herndon,

many people fought it. :o) It is still here. Wonder what she would think of

our huge regional Malls.

Take care, Bill and Charlotte

Bill:

You have to remember that my Japanese daughter-in-law lived here in

Orange County for four years. She loved our malls. Having spent quite a bit

of time in Japan, I do know that their malls can be even bigger than ours. It

is K-Mart, the discount store that the Japanese tourists like in Guam. Also,

the exchange rate makes it seem even cheaper to them. Japan is slowly getting

many if the stores we have here. I sent them a plastic Christmas tree the

first year they moved back because they had become very fond of our trees

here. It arrived all broken, and I offered to send another. She said, " Oh

that's OK Mama, I went to 'Toys are Us' and bought us one. "

The world is really very small these days.

Happy labor day, Barbara S

Barb ,

Yes, it's a small world in many ways :o) but try to send a small package to

Anne and see how large a world it is :o) Still 8 days to send a package

halfway around the world for $10 isn't bad, I guess.

As far as discount stores go, we once stopped at a Wal-Mart in (I think) Topeka,

Kansas. It was huge, all along the front of the store (inside) there were

smaller stores, restaurants, banks, etc. Biggest store I've ever been in.

Hey Sally, ever been there? It's visible from I-70 and there is a Motel 7

across

the street. It may be an old aircraft plant.

Take care, Bill and Charlotte
