Hi !

My doctor did the same thing, but in my case I didn't see any improvement with

the Plaquenil, so he added Methotrexate. You could also combine sulfasalzine or

Arava. I did see some improvement with the Methotrexate, but ultimately needed

Humira to see a real difference. Good luck with your treatment and I hope that

you feel better soon.

Hi , I saw my Rheumy last week I he has added Plaquenil to my

current prescription of Sulfasalazine to help it along as I am still

flaring plus I am going off pred in 3 weeks.

I don't know of any DMARD's that actively control pain. I take

diclofenac for pain.

rheumy yesterday to check how the plaquenil was doing and I still

have the sludgy feeling in my hands and some pain in some joints but

it is better and he said he is confident that it will still get

better. He said the plaquenil take 6 months to reach full benefit,

after that there is no more help from it other than what it is

already doing. I have an appointment in 2 months and he said if the

swelling in my joints in my hands arn't better he will be adding

another med to the plaquenil but he never said what med. What could

he possibly add to the plaquenil to help pain and keep damage from

happening?

Thank you for the answers Lori, I'll look up those meds so I can be

prepared if he mentions wanting to put me on one.
