She's had a " rough " life and sometimes does not believe in the inherent goodness of people. She said, " Auntie, I knew you'd vote for Buzz; but these other people who don't even know us . . . I got her as a kitten. But she is getting better. Still wont let me pick her up and cuddle. My sister just recently started driving for the city bus where we live, and she noticed a cat hanging around the shop and asked the other drivers about it. They said it was just a stray and that she could have it if she wanted. It was rather sickly looking and she thought it just needed worming. Come to find out the poor thing has AIDs, but she only found this out after taking it home. She has other cats already! So, now "Bus Boy" is on weekly medication and is as healthy as a horse, and of course the other cats get regular check-ups. My sister also has fibro, lupus, pernatious anemia (sp) and polymyalgia reumatica. So, they are a house full of sickies, but they all love and care for each other! I think this is what keeps my sister from giving into her illnesses and giving up. It amazes me that she is still able to work! Guest guest Posted June 12, 2000 Report Share Posted June 12, 2000 Dee, Actually I only wanted one cat and was given a kitten from a friend who told me it was a male cat. Well when this kitten was still very small, my husband came home late one night and let our dog out and wasn't paying attention and the kitten ran outside also. The next day I called and called for Max (name) and it wouldn't come and by 3:00, I was in tears thinking all kinds of horrible things had happened to it. Finally my husband (who felt guilty) told me to go get another kitten. I went down and bought a little long haired gray kitty who clung to me for dear life. I named him Buster and brought him home. Well I had him sleeping with me on my bed and at 2:00 a.m., I woke up cause I heard some meowing and I thought Buster was scared or something, but to my amazement, it was Max....on my roof....well that meant I now had two cats and when I took Max to the doctor to get him fixed, I found out Max was a Maxine. Never had cats before...didn't bother to check...so now I have a male and a female....both fixed but Max (who is black and white) loves to hunt mice and bring them in to surprise me, so I had my husband install a screen door so I can keep my door open to let in the breeze and Max's little gifts outside....so far it is working. Max is the kind of cat that only likes to be touched when she feels like it...she is very independant and is terrified of our dog. My other cat Buster is a lover and is more than ready to do battle with our dog....they however get along just fine. Well that is the story of my cats and all my animals are a great comfort to me...they seem to know when I'm in pain or down and they usually do something to make me smile. You take care of yourself and your 21 cats - I don't know how you do it with 21...these two keep me running, and keep posting. I enjoy hearing from you. Debbie G. Calico's only ocur once inevery live 17 feline vbirths so they tend to believe they are queens. I will e-mail you a picture of her royal highness Sally Hemmings sometime. But at the moment she is helping me type--she needs somethign else to do. She was left in a box across from my building weighing 3 lbs, borken leg, an eye infection She is a dish now! Well when this kitten was still very small, my husband came home late one night and let our dog out and wasn't paying attention and the kitten ran outside also. The next day I called and called for Max (name) and it wouldn't come and by 3:00, I was in tears thinking all kinds of horrible things had happened to it. Finally my husband (who felt guilty) told me to go get another kitten. I went down and bought a little long haired gray kitty who clung to me for dear life. I named him Buster and brought him home. Well I had him sleeping with me on my bed and at 2:00 a.m., I woke up cause I heard some meowing and I thought Buster was scared or something, but to my amazement, it was Max....on my roof....well that meant I now had two cats and when I took Max to the doctor to get him fixed, I found out Max was a Maxine. Never had cats before...didn't bother to check...so now I have a male and a female....both fixed but Max (who is black and white) loves to hunt mice and bring them in to surprise me, so I had my husband install a screen door so I can keep my door open to let in the breeze and Max's little gifts outside....so far it is working. Max is the kind of cat that only likes to be touched when she feels like it...she is very independant and is terrified of our dog. My other cat Buster is a lover and is more than ready to do battle with our dog....they however get along just fine. Well that is the story of my cats and all my animals are a great comfort to me...they seem to know when I'm in pain or down and they usually do something to make me smile. You take care of yourself and your 21 cats - I don't know how you do it with 21...these two keep me running, and keep posting. I enjoy hearing from you. Debbie G. What a cute story!!! I have found more than one cat on a roof...my house is old and has been added on to several times and as a result has different height and accessible roof surface...we have one fellow who scratches the daylights out of the screens on the two different bedrooms that he can reach from a porch that attaches to two adjoining roofs....I gave up re-screening last year....I put a new one in and he tears it up trying to get in....my guys come in and out depending on mood, weather and health....it's hot and humid so the old fella', Gemini, is in and resting. Also in are the baby, Squirty, the injured cat Gypsy, who has ligament damage to her right rear knee and may require surgery, but they want to give it ten days to see if it heals on its own, of course Smokey is in....his kidney disease requires an indoor life, Flake is in for the night, and Mackie is up keeping former opponent Gypsy company...they fought over territory on my bed but now Mackie seldom leaves her side...and Snookers is in...he's shaved so he stays in out of the weather in his room!! There are a couple more than usual in due to the thunderstorm, so I will put out completely fresh litter tonight to keep all happy. All the kids are on " demand petting " mode...if a cat comes to you, you get to pet or whatever it wants.....suits everyone. Days like this everyone seems more settled....and I hear the excuse " Mom, I can't get up.......the cat's asleep in my lap! " Around here that's considered a legitimate excuse...but don't get caught saying it if it isn't so!!!!
