Guest guest
Oh the joys of health care. I guess it beats having no options though. I am glad your pain doctor did the job. [ ] Surgery Prep...GRRRRRR. Ok, so I'm having knee surgery on the 16th and my ortho wanted a note from my primary care doc saying that I'm fit enough to have the surgery. Since I just fired my primary care doc, and the other doc I could have seen couldn't have seen me till the twenty-something and I need this done by the eleventh, I decided to use our local Care Now clinic which does physicals. No problem, I think. I call them up. They tell me that the physical costs $58 and is not covered by insurance. Ok, snag #1, but I can deal... I explain what I need the physical for and they tell me to come monday morning. I do. And what do you know... After sitting around for an hour, filling out all their forms, they ask me if I am willing to submit to lab tests. I tell them that all the lab tests are being done on the eleventh when I go to the hospital for my Pre-op, but that I need this physical done before then. They blithely inform me that they can't do the physical until I have all my labs etc done, and to come back and then they'll sign something... GRRRR. Rod then said, " So, the long and the short of it is since physicals aren't billable to insurance, and you can't charge us the exorbident fees for labs, EKG, Chest X-ray, UA screen, Stress test and other things, you're refusing to do the physical at all...Right? It's all about money...Right? " The girl just smiles smugly at him and shakes her head. I call my ortho in a panic and ask if I can have my pain doc fax something over saying I'm fit since he examined me not that long ago. They said yes. I called pain doc's office in a panic and medical assistant said she didn't think it'd be a problem and she'd call me if there was one. I gave her the doc's number, nurse's name and fax number... So, that'll be that...Hopefully. Say a prayer this all works out. I can't afford to wait another four months for surgery! I can barely walk now! -- Dodge Read my blog at: http://jumpthis.wordpress.com And my adults only journal at: http://www.my-journal.com/slaveheat You can check out the progress of my new service dog in training here: http://www.my-journal.com/demonsjournal Or visit me at: http://www./group/a_different_reality ------------------------------------
