I took Enbrel and prednisone through my pregnancy.  I've never been able to get

a flare down with anything but hard core drugs.  You could always try

acupuncture, that has helped me too.

Subject: [ ] How can you tame a flare without medicine?

I am looking to become pregnant within the next 3 months or so (as a

surrogate),so I

cannot get back on my meds. I got a depo shot last week, but the day after I

started to

flare up. It's now in my hands, and man does it hurt. I am drinking Elations,

and started to

take Tylenol arthritis. Is there something else I can do to function? Thanks!

I found swimming an awesome " medication " for my early RA. Just very

gentle laps. If you have access to salt water - the ocean at a good

temperature you'd be even better off.

I can't say I found the hydro pools better - the warmth seemed to make

mine worse. The cold(ish) of a 18-25 pool or ocean seemed to work much

better.

They say not to start any exercise you haven't already done and keep up

any you have been doing when pregnant so maybe this would be a great

time to start.

Sometimes finding the time and energy to begin is the biggest battle.

You will in time feel more energetic and should feel some relief though.

Good Luck with both - what a wonderful thing you're doing being a

surrogate!
