HAIR LOSS

Les,

I don't have a secret for the hair loss situation. I am however interested

in knowing an answer if anyone has one. I will take thinner hair for a

thinner body. I just hope it comes back. My hair was already thin and fine.

I can't afford to loose much more. Good thing my husband loves me. I may

have to go out and buy a " wig hat " . Oh well. No use crying over lost hair.

I had surgery on 6-17-99. My hair began to shed pretty badly at 4 months.

So I have a feeling I am going to be shedding for a while. My hair is very

long but very fine and thin.

Deb and Les: I believe that our hair loss can be lessened if we are very

careful to keep our protein intake at 70-75 grams a day and take our vitamins

and minerals daily as well. Dr. R said in clinic that the time from roughly

4 - 7 months is when we struggle with hair loss, if we are going to have

that complication. Dee in MI.

I had my surgery 3/10/99 and it didn't start falling out bad until June,

July and it seems to have slowed down some but I still have to sweep the

floor and clean out the bathtub every day because its so bad. I remember

Dr. R stating it should slow down around the 8th or 9th month. I hope so.

I have very thick hair but I can tell its thinning out. When did you start

losing yours alot?

Yea! Once again, our Knight in Shining Armor comes through for us with yet

another solution to one of the side-effects of MGB. Ladies and gentlemen,

do we have a caring, dedicated doctor, or what?

,

I am almost 6 months post-op from the open RNY. I have lost about

87 lbs and fist fulls of hair along with it. I don't know who told you

the " open " patients don't lose hair - but my shower drain and hair brush

tell a different story. I think it has more to do with the rapid weight

loss than the type of procedure. Hope this helps!
