Guest guest
Hi Tim, I found coffee to be a trigger for me and stopped drinking it a year ago last August...I use to be an avid coffee drinker at least 5 cups a day..I found I switched to reg tea(which I didn't like as well so I drank less of that too)..and then stopped drinking regular tea and started drinking only Green Tea...(it takes some getting use to but if you like the taste of lawn clippings it isn't bad)...I have been drinking just green tea for about a year now..I know its hard but you will see a big diff in your red nose if you drop the coffee and drink more water. Also try an antihistimine for the red nose that helps my red stay calm..i take zyrtec once a day(it is a prescription)..also desitin can be found in the diaper rash section of the store... Guest guest
I only came across this site yesterday - but I've already greatly inproved my understanding of possible treatments. I've not come across anyone else with cea (or not realised it, anyway), so it's nice to know I'm not alone! There seems to be a lot of favourable talk of zinc oxide, most recently from Kerry. I've not come across it before, and am only using oral minocycline. This usually keeps things more or less in check, but leaves me with a red nose (festive at this time of year, but not ideal), on which I do a very amateurish cover-up job. I thought I might try to get hold of some zinc oxide, but I've looked in a drugs index and can't find Desitin. I'm writing from England, so it may have a different name here, or not be on available. Does anyone know if there is a UK equivalent, and whether I will need a prescription from my doc? Also, has anyone tried Nor'ja C? They sent me a very pleasant email, reckoning that 4 out of 5 cea sufferers get good results from their product. Sounds almost too good to be true, but who knows? I'm afraid I can't offer much useful advice. Metrogel didn't do a lot for me, but I gather it works for some. I find that over a few days drinking more water and less coffee helps a bit (but I'm a bit addicted to the stuff, so it's not easy). Anyway, great site, nice group, good idea! Tim. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Guest guest
Hi Tim, Desitin is a diaper rash treatment that we purchase in groceries, drug stores, and anywhere else that baby products are sold. I don't know what the UK equivalent is, but look for diapers and you should be able to find it nearby! Desitin's ingredient list reads as follows: Active ingredient: zinc oxide 40% Other ingredients: BHA, cod liver oil, fragrance, lanolin, methylparaben, petrolatum, talc, water. You should be able to get plain zinc oxide, perhaps at a pharmacy, which might be better because it wouldn't have the other junk in it. I tried desitin first because I happened to have some on hand. You shouldn't need a prescription. I have a lot of trouble with my nose (swelling, redness, and pimples) which is supposed to be unusual for women (guess I'm special) but using metrogel and benzamycin (prescription acne treatment used on my nose only) have got it totally under control. Hope this helps. Glad you're with us. Guest guest
Coffee and caffiene really bring my rosacea on full blast. Avoid it. Switch to herbal tea, if you can. Also, I find washing with an antibacterial soap, such as clean and clear, or any with triclosan...even Dial, I guess. Minocylcine helps me when it flares up. I need to keep my nose from looking like W.C. Fields! A little red, I don't mind, but not the big bulbuss ones! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ E-group home: http://www.eGroups.com/list/rosacea-support

Clearisil Anti-Bac Daily face wash has worked pretty well for me, no iritation. But I recently switched to a product from GlyDerm " Gentle Cleanser " , which I buy at my Doc's office.
