Hello to all,As far as I'm concerned this site is great.Keep up the good

work. Now a few questions. With Drs. Gagner and Pomp with whom I had a consult

on 9/5,no one mentioned two surgeries as I read in one of the posts. I am 511

lbs and the only thing that I got told was that it is safer with my weight to

do it open instead of lap, which I guess I will have to live with. The other is

about the mortality rate,as I see it,I am going to take this chance due to

the fact that I am getting married in December and I am hoping to be around a

long time to have kids and enjoy my life with someone who means more to me

than life itself. One more question before I go, anyone that has had surgery

with Drs. pomp and Gagner, when you went for your consult did you get your

surgery date right then and there, or did you have to wait?

Hi Les,

I'm a pre-op with surgery scheduled for 9/26 with Dr. Gagner. I'm 5'6 " and

387 pounds and they didn't mention 2 surgeries to me either. I've emailed

with kookie, who is the one who is having it done in 2 parts, and the only

thing we can come up with is that it is size *in conjunction with* the fact

that she is having a revision to previous WLS done. If they didn't mention

having 2 surgeries to you, I would imagine that they are intending to do it

in one. I would send Dr. P or G an email message or call and ask - that

will straighten it out for sure.

As for when you get a surgery date - I didn't get mine until all of my

pre-op tests were completed. I know of several people, however, who got

theirs at the time of their consult. I'm not sure what the difference is.

I *did* get a date before I got my insurance approval, so I didn't have to

wait that extra time, which I appreciated. I was told, though, that if I

didn't have approval one week before my surgery date, I would be postponed,

which makes sense.

Hope this helps!
