Guest guest
I had a terrible reaction to Sulfacet R. It made everything worse. I have read, however, that for many people Sulfacet R is very effective combatting rosacea. I hope that you fall within the latter group. Guest guest
Nicki, Are you sure they mixed the stuff up right? The sulfacet-r I have is very liquidy and has a flesh tone tint to it. It also came with a vile of darker tint that you could add to it to match your complexion better (at this point with most of us being red I dont think thats too important!). Sulphur helps some people. Its suppose to cut down the red and help with the bumps. My Dr said its one of the most hypoallergenic products out there to help treat rosacea and the acne associated with it.I cant say Ive used it too much. When he gave it to me this had just begun and I was using everything under the sun so I cant say what reacted or worked. Im spot using it now and it does dry out the bumps. Sulphur can be drying so Im taking this slow. Use it on a couple of spots for awhile, see how it works.( call your pharmacy and ask them if its suppose to be thick and dark. Some of these meds they have to mix up on the spot. Is yours made by Dermik Laboratories?). It is not dark colored like the stuff you mentioned - it is yellow. You might want to ask for this stuff. It is made by Glades - 10% sodium sulfacet and 5% sulfur. I am allergic to sulfa drugs, however I don't seem to have a problem with the topical sulfur. I don't rub mine in - the tube says just to apply a thin film over the skin without rubbing in. I use about a pea-sized amount - too much more or rubbing it into the skin is too drying. Wet your fingers to help spread it over your entire face - if you rub it in without doing this it is hard to spread. Keep wetting your fingers until you get it spread over your entire face and then let it dry. When I am in a hurry, I use my hair dryer on my face - with the cool shot button, of course. I don't seem to have a problem with putting my makeup on over it, as long as I don't use too much. You will probably have to use moisturizer if it causes dryness, when I first used it I had some peeling, but I think I was using too much and rubbing it in. It may take a few days to notice a difference. It works great for me - much better than Noritate or metrocream and has helped eliminated red patches that the Noritate wouldn't get rid of. Also with any topical you shouldn't spot treat rosacea - they say you really should apply medications over the entire face - not just the problem areas.
