Guest guest
I agree. Ram Re: Mexico Travel Advsiory > I'm glad that it is a " Cougar " advisory and not one from anyone with any sense. You started off with wanting a Dentist as your medical director and then wind-up spinning tales about drug cartels and crooked cops. I think you might need something more stronger than the Welbutrin. Something shy of cryogenic suspension. I would also suggest that you avoid glue fumes and lead based paints. > > > > >
Guest guest
Cougar, Friendly advice. Spell-check really helps. And it makes you look less uneducated. -Wes Ogilvie
Guest guest
I spent a couple of days in Mexico last week. I drove from Ciudad Juarez to Chihuahua and back. It took me 5 minutes to go across the border going into Mexico and 10 minutes coming back. Ciudad Juarez has two malls, a Wal-Mart, Sam's Club, Applebee's, 's, Subway Sandwiches, Blockbuster Video, Autozone auto parts. And Bip Bip convenience stores on virtually every corner. The road to Chihuahua was as good as US roads and the gas was cheaper. Things were clean. The hotels nice, the food good, the people friendly (and a whole crew of BLS providers at Cruz Roja trying to learn everything they could about providing EMS.) There were Mexican Army personnel at the border, but they did not have magazines in their weapons and were eating mangos when I went through. NAFTA has been good to Mexico and they are quickly moving out of the third world. Corruption is just as bad here as in Mexico--perhaps worse. Our murder rate is many times theirs. Just a few thoughts from a Mexican sojourner. B Bledsoe PS. One of the ambulances on the way to Chihuahua had Abilene EMS on the side (the star of life had been removed and replaced by an orange cross). Guest guest
Now , Why open that can of worms? The backboard discussion was bad enough, now we have to have a discussion on trading ambulances!!!!!!!!!! Here we go.. btw, glad you had a great time in Mexico, and welcome back RE: Re: Mexico Travel Advsiory > I spent a couple of days in Mexico last week. Guest guest
Well, Janice, I am glad to hear that you have a physician now. I was worried that you were going to let your mechanic take a stab at overseeing medical direction. Just in case you didn't know there was an influx of military presence at the Mexican-US border just prior to the war beginning with Iraq. It was aired on the news several times. It is just soldiers doing their job just like us. It doesn't have anything to do with paranoid, rampant drug dealers, crooks, prostitutes, lions, or bears; oh my! For your information we had gone to Reynosa a few weeks ago and like the good Doc pointed out, crossing the border was not a problem. I guess we just didn't score the " good " Welbutrin that gives you paranoid ideations. Take your medicine, focus on your breathing and the " bad men " will go away. By the way, my cousin shoes horses in Beaumont area and has some free time. You might check with him about being your medical director. He is a real nice fellow. =)~
Guest guest
Thought to ponder... One of the chronic posters to our list makes frequent, basic spelling errors in both English and Spanish. When people call us uneducated, unprofessional, and " ambulance drivers, " who should we blame for their perception? As Pogo said, " we have met the enemy and he is us. " Please, remember, when you are on this list, you are representing yourself to the public, your fellow EMS professionals, AND the Texas Department of Health, the very agency which regulates the profession. You're only as good as your first impression. That's true on this list, and it will certainly be true if, God forbid, you are ever hauled into civil and/or criminal court. Stepping off my soapbox, I remain... Sincerely yours, Wes Ogilvie, attorney at law <nota bene. My postings are not intended as legal advice to the list nor for any individual member of the list.>
Guest guest
You stand corrected on it not being my business who you have as a medical director. That's public record. All I have to do is call the state and request this information. Unless he is a Ferrier in Oklahoma I should be able to get their name. I just cannot imagine that Laredo would be the DMZ of North America. Of all the borders to cross I would not pick the one that the Border Patrol has their eyes on. Arizonza is much more drug cartel friendly. If you watch the news a bulk of the Mexican drugs are smuggled through tunnels under the border in Arizona and other less populated places. These tunnels are more Y2K compliant and less violent than the Escobar days.
Guest guest
- You invite yet more bad feelings by impugning the reputation of Oklahoma farriers. Just thank the nice people, " Coogah! " and now " Coogette! " for their generousity in sharing this important message with us. Their consideration for our general welfare is just one of the things I love about them. Just never agree that you've seen the black helicopters too. TD Re: Re: Mexico Travel Advsiory You stand corrected on it not being my business who you have as a medical director.
