Guest guest
I have noticed a deeper sleep, and feel more rested in the morning. After first couple of days of accepting it was good for me. My energy level is alwayss good for 2-4 hours then I am NOT the Energizer Bunny. Some afternoon naps help. Guest guest
I tell Joanie I feel like a jet pilot Gettingg ready to take off in a F-15. I have the full mask. Joe -- CPAP The CPAP I'm using has the head gear straps like the mask, but thenostril pillow fits into the nostrils like a cannula...only there is nospace for "leakage". I also have to use a chin strap until my body istrained to keep my mouth shut!! It's a new item and easier than themask. My O2 company will supply my husband with a unit over night that willshow if he has sleep apnea too. He can be hooked up to the equipment bythe O2 company over night. Walt will have to have a doc's prescriptionfirst. I think he will go ahead and do it 'cause I keep telling him hesnores loud, and quits breathing too.Tonight will be my first night with the contraption. I am not hookedinto my O2 at this time.Joy/Seattle
Guest guest
Joe, I also have the full face mask. Several years ago I had the one that only covered the nose so later when I had my pressure reduced I changed to the full face mask. It was hard to get used to. Before going to sleep, my husband pretends he a radio control operator and says "Over and Out!" Toodles! Guest guest
The CPAP I have will only allow me to lay on one side, not the other - unless I go and change the tubing. I usually try to sleep on both sides! I guess not any more! Being fitted for my head gear Bill taped the tube to the top of my head gear to keep it out of the way of my face. I can't wait to go to bed tonight!!! Irene, Joyce and others who are having such a horrible time of this disease - I want to curl my arms around you and just sit with you... Guest guest
Joy... what I notice most is that I sleep all night through...well, there are PBs (potty breaks) but I go right back to sleep. I already said, thank goodness I don't snore anymore! Yes, I do have better mornings. Having said that...memory, more energy I don't feel but I'm sure that is because of other problems. One thing I certainly noticed! When I started using the CPAp my sats improved so much that I no longer qualified for O2...I think that was close to a year ago. I'm on O2 again now however...qualified for 24-7 if I think I need it that much. Guess the choice is more or less mine. Overall, I do sleep better and I don't travel w/o it. I'm anxious to see a picture of your pillow online............ I just read your post that you have to sleep on one side?! Whoo. I wouldn't like that I don't think. Is there tubing with this pillow? Guest guest
Its sort of like oxygen, everyone I've ever known to use CPAP says " oh I hate this thing " in the same breath they put it on because of how much it truly helps them. Most people I know make their first trip after getting one without taking it too. Then they really see the difference and miss it and never travel again without it. > > laughing here Joe...I call mine my snorkel! > Mama-Sher, age 69. As to your thing about looking good and smelling good, I'd have to argue with the looking good on me and hope I don't smell at all as I can't and don't use any fragrances (even in shampoo) due to my allergies. > > > > laughing here Joe...I call mine my snorkel! > > Mama-Sher, age 69. Guest guest
Joy, I am so sorry that you are having to deal with sleep apnea and the misery of the CPAP. Some people love it and some hate it. I think I would hate it. But, I hope you will try again. Is there a respiratory therapist that would be available to help you? Guest guest
Joyce You'd hate it just the same way I bet you did oxygen. My ex-wife use to say " I hate this thing " every night as she put it on, but she had 86 interruptions per hour without it and slept so well with it. Amazingly, she is claustrophobic but was not bothered by that aspect. Isn't it a lot like every aspect of this disease. We hate it, all it does to us, and all we have to do, but somehow we handle it beyond strength we imagined we had. > > > > > > > > I tell Joanie I feel like a jet pilot Gettingg ready to take off > in > > a > > > F-15. > > > > I have the full mask. > > > > Joe > > > > > > > > -- CPAP > > > > > > > > > > > > The CPAP I'm using has the head gear straps like the mask, but the > > > > nostril pillow fits into the nostrils like a cannula...only there > is > > > no > > > > space for " leakage " . Guest guest
Joy...I'm so sorry to read your first night was horrible. May I ask why you opted for a full mask from the smaller one? Do you think that is what is bothering you...your face being covered? I have the petite blue-gel mask that just covers the nose. It's hard enough to adjust to but I couldn't tolerate having my face covered so I replaced the full face mask. Mama-Sher, age 69. IPF 3-06, OR. Don't fret about tomorrow, God is already there!
