Guest guest
Hi everyone, I haven't posted in a while, but have been reading your posts almost daily. I've been out of town for several days, taking care of my dad. Also, my kids started school last week and just filling out all the forms they send on the first day of school is a job in it self. Well, my surgery is actually happening this friday, the 15th of September at 7:30 a.m.. I've been very anxious until last night when all of a sudden I felt very peaceful and realized that my decision was made 8 months ago to change my life for the better and I am finally so so close. A few questions I have for Dr. Anthones patients. Do you feel that the nursing care at USC is adequate, so that I do not need to get a private duty nurse? I really can not afford one and would hate to borrow, unless it is absolutely necessary. I will have my DH with me for the first 2 days and nights, also my friends and my cousin promised to help. I am getting alot of support from people around me. I feel very fortunate in this regard. Also, as far as the hospital room goes. Will the hospital provide a cot for my DH? if not what do you recommend I do. He will need to work first thing monday and a person can not function with no sleep. Are the rooms semi-private or private? Hugs, Olga BMI 44 Wt 298 lb. Surgery 9-15-
Guest guest
Hi Olga...I had a private room (545). I loved it! I found the nursing staff to be great. Sure there are couple flakes now & then, but for the most part, there were nurses everywhere when I need them, and when I didn't, I was glad they weren't around. There was one night nurse, Wayne, who would make sure my slippers were out from under my bed & made sure that I had a good supply of the xtra large gowns. He would always peek in my bathroom & make sure everything was tidy... My experience with the nurses was a good one. Now, I just heard a story from someone who had surgery a couple weeks ago who had nothing but horror stories to tell. I do believe this patient was on a different floor though, that might make a difference?? My husband stayed the weekend before getting back home to take care of our boys, but he stayed at the Holiday Inn in Pasadena. I was so out of it, I thought it was silly to ask him to stay with me all night. He might as well get a good nights sleep! :>).... and he did... hope this helps! Good luck to you!! heidi Home Page: http://www.myWLS.com Direct email: mailto:heidij@... Join myWLS.com Update: /group/myWLSupdate only 4 days to go!!!!!
