Guest guest
Has anyone seen the Medical Mysteries or Medical Diary programs on the Discovery Health channel? I have and contacted them on doing a series on mito. They sent me some information on Submission Guidelines from the Discovery Channel on Program Acquisitions and Development. I would love to get a small core team together to help jump start this project, if anyone has time to help write / draft a program series on metabolic disorders, please contact me. Amy Porter (married to a very talented video producer / editor and mom to Rae, 3 PDH) Read On for snips from the letter: It states: Dear Producer: Thank you for your interest in Discovery Networks! We acquire completed programs and invest in the production of programming for Discovery Channel......The following guidelines have been developed to help you submit complete, appropriate proposals and finished programs. Submissions adhering to these guidelines will receive higher priority. Submissions that fail to comply with these requirements may be returned unconsidered. Evaluation Criteria Program proposal and completed programs are evaluated based on: the networks' current programming needs (in terms of topic and format); the production team's credentials and background; the budget requirements; the suitability of the project for the network; and the uniqueness and originality of the topic. Formats and Genres for Program Proposals Discovery Showcase Networks: Discovery Health Channel Discovery Health Channel accepts non-fiction programming proposals for one-hour programs, limited series (10 episodes or less--half-hours or one hours) and full series (13 episodes or more -- half-hours or one-hours). Genres include but are not limited to: Mind, Body and Spirit with a focus on Mental Health, Medical Innovations, Ethics, Behavior Modification, Eldercare, Childcare, Healing, Wellness, Natural Therapies, alternative Treatments, Stress Management, Fitness, Nutrition and Aging Issues. Inappropriate program genres include drama, instructional, and industrial programming. Editorial emphasis is on informative and entertaining storytelling, with strong bias toward programming which features in-depth and accessible exploration of topics.
