Guest guest
awww poor kid. Nice to know a teacher cared enough though to try everything she could think of. Sounds like a pretty nice teacher he's got.
Guest guest
That is funny. I have an NT kid that will only drink water and milk and sometimes juice. Juice isn't something guarenteed. Went to pizza hut one day and got him some sprite and he took one sip and started his " No thank yous " (its really funny to listen to because he is so charasmatic with everything he says) and refused to drink it and started throwing a fit because he *had* to have water. Dakota is just a funny little guy. Georga Register to win $50 in free books. Visit www.ubah.com/F1549 Start your own Usborne Home Business in November for only $34.95! Ask me how! Juice Mikey's poor teacher has been trying everything under the sun to try to get him to drink his juice in the mornings. (I provide his grain-free-dairy-free breakfast - our choice - and they provide utensils & juice.) I knew she was trying different types of juice to see if there was one he liked but I didn't know all the hassle she was going through. She even brought in a Blue's Clue's cup from home to see if he would drink it out of that. (Yeah, right! I still haven't figured out why people think that will work, but apparently it does with NT kids, because it's a very common suggestion.) only drinks water or, as an occasional treat, pop. For quite some time he barely drank anything at all, and if he had not still been breastfeeding I am positive we would have made multiple trips to the hospital for dehydration. We came close as it was, but he always managed to pee by the deadline our ped had set. This morning she told me everything she'd tried & then said, " I don't want to deprive him of a beverage but we are throwing away his juice every single morning and I hate to waste it. " I said, " He only drinks water. Just give him water. " She said, " Oh! I hadn't thought of that. " I am still laughing. Poor teacher! I appreciate how hard she's been trying. That's great of her to put so much effort into so small a thing. But I do wish she had said something earlier. They didn't say anything so I assumed they had it figured out. Ah well. I will take in his own little cup today and he can drink water from it now. -Sara.

The NOT so funny side of this is when you tell people that your child will only drink water and they look at you like you are DEPRIVING the child of the right to live. :/ sigh Penny

Even my NT daughter doesn't like it. I have to sneak juice into the theatre because they don't carry anything without carbonation or caffiene. Guest guest
So does Jacqui! When we go to Mcs she ALWAYS has to have a Hamburger Happy Meal, no pickles...and a water. Well, the dopes at Mc's must sometimes feel that A) We MEANT soda even though we SAID water, or Feel we DESERVE soda since we paid for it, doesn't really matter what we want. Occasionally...(too often actually), they give us soda. Once Jacqui took a sip without us checking. It was sprite. OMG. The child almost threw up...The sprite was quickly spewed from her mouth and she just kept repeating " WHY DID THEY DO THAT? " ...Now we ALWAYS check to make sure it's water. ....Don't get me started about when they make a mistake and give us a cheeseburger... :-( penny Re: Re: Juice Alec hates soda!!!!!! But sometimes they give him hash browns and they BREAK! Putter does NOT eat broken hash browns. Salli
