Guest guest
I haven't tried oxygen therapy but I've used expectorants with guaifenesin in them before, I think that's what's in Robitussin. This stuff makes me feel REALLY weird, kind of sick and woozy and like I'm on some strong drug. I don't take it anymore. My file now says that I'm allergic to Celebrex because it gave me nausea and headaches. It seems that it works great for some people, but for others like me it is worse than the pain we're trying to treat with it. Maybe he should try not taking them for a while and see how he feels. I hope that you can find alternatives, I just don't know what they are. I really liked Ibuprofen for pain, but can't take it anymore because of stomach problems. Vicodin works great for me for pain, but they'll only give it to me for severe tooth pain. I have restless legs and any SSRIs like Prozac, Zoloft and Paxil just make it worse. I'm taking Klonopin now for sleep and its supposed to help with the restless legs. I think it does for me. I only notice the restless legs periodically, but the twitches have been measured during sleep studies when I wasn't even aware of them, so its hard to tell if they're better, I'll know after a few months if I don't get noticeable symptoms again. (I think they get noticeable for me during my monthly cycle). I was prescribed methocarbamol for fibromyalgia pain and all it did was make me feel woozy. Have you looked into Imitrex for the migraines? My boyfriend has had shots of it for migraines and he says it works great. He says there's also a nasal inhaler with Imitrex that also works. I've heard some folks say that the OTC Migraine Ice packs help too. I hope your friend gets some relief soon. Guest guest
, Hi I have been diagnosed for about two years now, and I have tried almost all of the meds that you talked about. I know that this is going to sound like a farce, but they did not work at all for me.....However If I take 800 millagrams of Ibuprofen 3 or 4 times a day and sometimes more depending on the pain then the pain is much more manageable for me.....I have also had the migrains that you described Tell your physician that you want the strongest thing available beause nothing is working If you have a physician that is at all sensitive, they will prescribe it. There is also a shot...I do not know the name....that he can have prescribed, that you have at home, and ready to take when his migraines flare up You want to save it of course for the really bad times, but it sounds to me that it had gone on way to long, and the shot would be very helpful....Major side effect it knocks you out cold for about 4 hours, but at a time like this, he won't care :-) Good luck Shirlie

Guest guest
The " shot " is Imetrex or sumatriptaline. It is wonderful for migraines. My girlfriend uses it when needed. They also have pills. IF she takes a pill at the first sign and lays down awhile, she can generally prevent it. Ask your doctor. It has been a wonder drug for her.
