Hi Donna,

Mine told me to lie down a couple of times a day for 10 minutes at a

time just to unwind. He said sleeping during the day will make my

sleep apnea at night worse. I can't put in a whole day without resting!

I grab sleep whenever I can! I might not sleep for 48 hours at a stretch so I definitely sleep when I can. That advice might be OK for 'normal' people but I think that we Fibromites are something different.

No, my doctor encourages me to try and rest whenever my body tells me I

need to. There are days at work that I have to take my lunch hour and

go sleep in my car just to make it through they day. I've also had to

pull over on my drive home from work and take a 15-20 minute nap just

to keep from falling asleep at the wheel. I am guessing that like

medications, a doctor's opinion on naps is just as varied.

Well, my Dr hasn't said one way or the other, but other people said, you should

not take naps, you would sleep better at night. NOT. If I feel I need a nap, I

take one, and I believe it does help me some. I know if I am really extra tired,

I can not sleep. I think , for us anyway, naps are good!

I agree, if you can't sleep at night sleep when you can. My sister has rheumatoid and her Doc told her sleep in the afternoon to help with fatigue

God Bless you and yours

God Bless America

Love ya,

Hi : I would disagree with that, if you mean the medical leave act.. Only because I am quite familiar with the FMLA act. I know, that your doctor could fill out a form that dictates your needs during the work day and taking an hour nap could be listed as one of them. Just as leaving work for Dr. visits, pt or you are just having a bad day. I am two weeks into my latest flare-up and last week I had to call in twice due to fibro symptoms. I also have a separate one (fmla form) for my migraines. Mystic wrote: I usually just leave work and go up to the wal-mart parking lot and sleep. I don't want my bosses to know that I can't make it through a work day without having to take an hour's nap. I don't think that

would look very good for someone who is managing their office and money. As for the American with disabilities act, I doubt it would apply because the naps are not a medical necessity....they are just something that make us feel better. But you would have to ask a disability attorney for a valid opinion. N.> > >> > > I was wondering if any of you have had your doctor tell> > > you not to

My guess is two things: 1. The doctor doesn't understand the chronic fatigue issue and has never experienced falling asleep sitting up in broad daylight. 2. The doctor thinks that you will sleep better at night because you aren't napping during the day. Doesn't work does it? It just makes you over tired and even more so painful the next day because you didn't sleep well due to pain.ygo65@... wrote: I grab sleep whenever I can! I hardly ever nap but Saturday morning I went and gave the lab my 6

viles of blood for testing, and (the lab guy) told me that after

he sucked all that blood out I better go and eat some breakfast.

Instead, I went home, drank some orange juice and was so tired that I

went back to bed. I was in bed until about 2pm. But of course, ended

up staying up until about 2 or 3 am Sunday. LOL. Sadly, I'm hoping

that something in that blood work comes back positive. Whether it's

the allergy tests or the Ig tests and my ciliac test. Something to

explain more about what's going on with my digestive system. LOL.

I generally dont take naps because I feel worse when I wake up than I

did before the nap. This week was different though, I havent been

sleeping well. I slept almost all day long yesterday! I guess we need

to listen to our bodies.

I feel for those of you who have to work , I dont know how you manage

it. If you are like me, my body isnt that predictable to know when I

would be able to go a full 8 hours without having a major flair. Then

I would have to figure out how to get home safely. You all are in my

thoughts.

My company isnt covered under FMLA. we only have 21 employees. and we

can't take any time off for sickeness...we were bought out in August

so we have to go six months before we start accruing sick time and

after that we accrue 4 hours of sick time a month. We have to wait a

year for any vacation or personal days. But thanks for the

carification.
