Guest guest
I was told that autoimmune illnesses do cause an earlier menopause for some women. I had a hysterectomy almost three years ago (I'll be 44 next month) and kept my ovaries. For a while I could tell I was still ovulating regularly, though I've had perimenopausal symptoms for almost 10 years. Last year my skin started getting more dry, but also breaking out like a teen's. I started getting more grey hair, hot flashes and stuff. My understanding is that perimenopause can last 10-15 years or as little as 2-3. You're considered menopausal when you haven't had a period for a year ( not due to surgery).River wrote: does anyone have any information on Fibro and Menapause? and if so what ages for those of you who have gone through it what ages did it set itn? how long does it take?/ i'm only 41 but my period that at one time i could set a watch by ( no kidding) is skp and miss now..i've noticed my hair thinning( i have really thick hair so i'm not complaining about that .. but i just wondered what effect if any each has on the other and what i should expect... thanks Yahoo! for Good - Make a difference this year. Guest guest
I am not in menopause (I'm only 32) but I only have periods every 2-3 months (never regular) and experience hot flashes and night sweats on a regular basis. I also experience other menopause symptoms but all my dr's insist that it's not my time yet. I didn't have a period for 18 months 2 years ago too. They gave me some blood test that tests some hormone level to determine if you're in menopause or not. I think I might have PCOS but I don't have any cysts on my ovaries. I have way more grey hair then another's my age and my skin is so dry, even in the summer (it's way hot and humid here in buffalo in the summer). I used to have lush hair but I am working on an awful bald spot now where I had surgery :-( I have Chiari and had to have decompression brain surgery about two years ago. *Hannah* www.starbrightdesigns.net Jewelry & Photos Semi-Precious stones, Crystal & Sterling Silver I was told that autoimmune illnesses do cause an earlier menopause for some women. Guest guest
Hi You may not be dealing with menopause. I had the irregularity in my period and hair loss with my thyroid problem.....It was Hypothyrodism due to a tumor I had on one side. You should have it checked...T3 and T4 Levels Also you can check for menopause with blood work. A good gage of when you may start is hereditary....when did your mom, aunts or grandma start their menopause. Look up Hypothyroidism on the net and check out the symptoms....you may be surprised Just a thought wrote: does anyone have any information on Fibro and Menapause? and if so what ages for those of you who have gone through it what ages did it set itn? how long does it take?/ i'm only 41 but my period that at one time i could set a watch by ( no kidding) is skp and miss now..i've noticed my hair thinning( i have really thick hair so i'm not complaining about that .. but i just wondered what effect if any each has on the other and what i should expect... thanks Find your next car at Yahoo! Guest guest
Hashimoto’s is the main cause of hypothyroidism. And Graves is the main cause of hyperthyroidism. My T3 andT4 are always fine but my thyroid antibody levels are always over 500. It took years to get the correct diagnoses. I take natural thyroid hormone (armor thyroid) only when my thyroid swells up. *Hannah* www.starbrightdesigns.net Jewelry & Photos Semi-Precious stones, Crystal & Sterling Silver Hi You may not be dealing with menopause. Guest guest
Well Wen Actually your symptoms are a little confusing to me Some like tiredness and hair loss and weight gain ( usually it is a problem losing weight not a quick weight gain) are Hypo thyroid but the constant hunger is a Hyperthyroid symptom. Your Doc need to get your thyroid hormone levels ( simple blood test ) to find out if your thyroid is effecting you. Having a goiter or cyst or tumor on or nesr the Thyroid does not always mean the levels are effective. I your hair dry or oily and I remember you saying you could be Hyper or was it ADHD is this still so. These are also signs to watch for. Guest guest
i was up lol lucky my i son i think has his strep back again i was doing some reading on webmd and it really looks that i have symptoms of both kinds. i am pretty sure that she said i have Hyperthyroidism. at least that is what i can remember and reading the spytom list it sounds right. the goiter and the nodules. the only thing that didn't make much sense is the wt gain(10 pounds in a week) and my hair. but i have really thick hair so maybe its nothing.. i got kinda lost on the adhd thing though. i do have add(my brother has adhd) and have been dealing with that since i was a child that and several learning disabilities. I am kinda glad i have this, having to learn a different way or trying that much harder made me a better person.i was never on meds for it- i wasn't hyper at all-just couldn't pay attention- lol my brain does go off to another place if i am not into what i am doing. i gotta kinda pull my head back to earth.. lol my poor hubby when ever he talks about work i tend to do this. i didn't have depression really till after i had my first child. then omg it was soooo bad. i have never really had nerve issues till now. now i get mad a lot, i can take a lot of people, stress, lol you name it. but so much is making sense now like the meds not having a affect(pain meds and muscle relaxer), makes me feel a lot better, the nerve. i was at a point a while ago that maybe the old doc was right. but being normal is boring right hugz wen -- Re: ok new question... Guest guest
I think there may be some hormone deficiency or overage.... esp with the dry skin symptom. Search online for estrogen or progesterone dominance... or hormone allergies... rewa RE: ok new question... > I am not in menopause (I'm only 32) but I only have periods every 2-3 months > (never regular) and experience hot flashes and night sweats on a regular > basis. Guest guest
River/: I'm glad someone asked this question - I've been curious about this myself. My mom (in her late 60's)has sceleroderma - also an autoimmune disease. I'm trying to remember but I think she was diagnosed around 5 years ago. My aunt has auto immune Hepatitus, so I'm thinking this is probably some sort of genetic thingie. Anyway - my mom took YEARS to actually do the menopause thing. Everytime she would think it was all done - bam a period pops up. She too had Hysto, but kept ovaries. But in the scheme of thing menopause happened late for her. Here I am at 46 and like I was a 28 day clock ever since I started having periods - every 28 to 28.5 days - hello old friend. Never had trouble getting pregnant because I always knew when the egg was going to drop. But I'm now even more often (more periods versus fewer) and having hot flashes like crazy (I'm a computer engineer and therefore work with mostly men - they call them my power surges - putzs)Thinning hair, facial flushing, ragged sleep patterns and the worst PANIC ATTACKS. Tonight I'm sitting here truly at my wits end with the panic. I mean I had interview today for a position with work that would net me a $10,000.00 per year raise and I was cool as a cucumber in the interview. But here I sit in my jammies with the kids and puppies in my nice warm house with a nice full belly and I'm FREAKED OUT. I literally feel like I'm suffocating. What the heck is going on???? Is the panic a part of pre menopause stuff? Should I get my hormones checked? I've always been so stress immune - chew up rocks/spit out gravel - nerves of steal. Now I'm a nut!! Can someone please give me some coconut for this????
