Guest guest
Hi Jillian I have a daughter age 14, Cassie, with suspected mito. The closest we've come to something like this was back when Cassie was about 9-10 yrs old. Cassie was having trouble with slight swelling, slight fever in the area of swelling which was in her left elbow. Don't recall any color changes. She complained of pain in that area. Took her to the doctor, but couldn't make much of it at the time. The doctor thought we may have bumped it some how. It wasn't until she started to develop mottling in both arms and some lose of function in the left hand, that the doctor then had her under go a venous doppler study which checked for blood clots. Since that checked out fine, he then referred us to a pediatric neurologist. The neurologist also questioned about the possibility of bumping the arm. I told her on occasion we would accidentally bump it on a door frame when carrying her, but nothing major. She then thought that maybe it was a possible variant of Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy. This is a condition that may come on if the limb had encountered a serious blow such as a fall. The blow from the fall can bring on painful episodes or a condition. No one really was of much help. All I know is that Cassie's weakness/loss of function started this way and then just slowly progessed, but the pain involved seemed to subside. I HOPE this is not what you are facing. I'll pray that it isn't. Guest guest
Hi again Jillian, It hit me that on ocassion that Cassie will also have moments where she will have white blotchy spots on her shins from time to time. She doesn't complain about it. Its just weird. Can be there one day, gone the next. Go figure. They are usually the size of a thumbprint. She has lost a great deal of function within her body, especially the left side. Sorry, not very promising again. painful white patch > hi all , i wonder if anyone has ever heard of this, today daniel had a very > painful event with his r. arm, it wasnt triggered by anything, ( activity > etc.) the upper outside of his arm suddenly started hurting, he was unable > to raise it and had problems holding a pen and writing, this whole event > lasted in the acute phase approx. 2hrs. and what was interesting was that > the whole area was blanched white ( didnt changed colour when he pressed the > area with his finger) of course he didnt call me so i didnt hear about it > until after school ( 5hrs. later !!!) when it was much improved but still > hurt to touch.??
