Guest guest
Hello , I read your post earlier in which you stated you were afraid of beginning your Enbrel treatment. Congratulations!!! I'm sooooo happy you wound up taking the first step in feeling better and getting your life back! I'm 38 years old and was diagnosed with RA last month after having been in serious pain since November, 2008. I am fairly new to this new lifelong battle with RA, but I can certainly relate to the pain and sense of not enjoying life because of the pain it brings. I started Enbrel two weeks ago, and I can't even begin to tell you how much better I already feel! My family and few true friends that wound up sticking through this ordeal with me, have noticed such a difference in me as well! I'm smiling again! I pray that you too get the great results that so many of us who've responded to your post are experiencing. Again, congratulations! You're on your way! ENBREL Date: Wednesday, March 18, 2009, 8:34 PM my friend who takes enbrel came over and showed us how to mix it and inj it and then hubby stuck it in. hurt a bit but not too bad. and fine since. yaya!!! fyi i talked to enliven and they said that the 50 mg injs are much more painful as the preservative they use is very acidic. the 2 25 mg injs you mix yourself so no preserv is needed so it does not burn going in. also with the 2 25 mg unmixed injs they said no inj site reactions. mine is a little tender but only if i touch it. no redness there. thanks everyone. i'll lyk how it works for me. please let it help. crossed fingers. monique

Guest guest
, I still used the twice weekly 25mg injections. I tried the 50mg, but it didn't seem to last as well for me. The 25mg does not burn going in, at least not for me. I do have a slight injection site reaction, though. It is usually very mild, about like a mosquito bite, red and itchy. By the next day, it's fine. I inject into my tummy, where there are fewer nerve endings. I would much prefer to give myself the shot rather than have somebody else do it. Of course I was squeamish at first, but before long I was an old pro. I hope the Enbrel helps you as much as it helps me! Guest guest
Way to go . I get the self mix also. The 50 mgs has a caustic acid that you don't have at all in the self mix. I printed out the ingredients of the difference in the 25 mg and the 50 mg and showed it to my rheumy because he didn't know the difference. the burning was caused by the " caustic acid " so I never took the 50 mg enbrel since I took the premixed 50 mg Humira and it burnt like heck. Both enbrel and humira's 50 mg premix has the caustic acid. I stayed with the self mix 25 mg and inject 2 x a week. it works well for me and no burning at all. Guest guest
Hi : I was so happy for you that you took your first injection of Enbrel. I too hope it works good for you, and that you will start to feel better very soon. Won't that be just great!! I was a wreck when I gave myself my first injection of MTX 5 years ago. Now it is no big deal. Like they say, " mind over matter " . Wishing you better days ahead, and that you feel much better soon. Take good care of yourself. Guest guest
Hi, I am new to the group and have been on Enbrel for several years. I recently tried the 50 MG Enbrel upon my doctor's recommendation and had the same results as you. I found it did not last the week and after being on the 50 MG for a month my arthritis was the worst it had been in years. Additionally, the pain of the injections was unbearable. I have switched back to the twice weekly 25 MG and feel much better.
